Tommasini Tecno
Hello forum,
This is a 2014 Tommasini Tecno, I am the orginal owner. It is assembled with a mix of Campagnolo components: 10 speed Centaur shifters, derailleurs + cassette, Record brakes, Chorus crankset and Campagnolo Hyperon clincher wheels. Also of note, Deda Superleggera stem, Ritchey Evo-Curve handlebars and San Marco Regale saddle. Carbon seatpost, no name, China. I wanted a modern build at the time and went with Columbus Minimal fork (and cannot say I regret it). Size 59.
What is this bike worth today?

Nice clean example. Quick search I see asking prices in the 3k range. As always, not the sold for price.

Nice opinion, but a lot of folks here would disagree. We have an entire thread in the C&V subforum with thousands of posts devoted to people who ride lugged steel bicycles updated with modern groupsets like this. Besides the inclusive nature of the community, the Tommasini Tecno frameset is truly a modern classic and it's built in an historic facility using traditional methods.
Back to the intention of the thread, I watch the Tommasini market on US and European eBay rather frequently, and right now this bicycle is probably worth about $1,500-2,000 USD to the right buyer, but the seller would need to be patient. A lot of the advertisements sit for months before finally being tagged as sold.

Perhaps one of the best looking bikes ever made in my opinion.
Value depends on many things - make, model, size, condition and, believe it or not, location. Where I live I guarantee you that that bike would not sell for $400 CND, about $325 USA. However, in a bigger city, such as Toronto or Vancouver, $800 CND or $700 USD would be what I would be willing to pay. So, in my mind and not knowing if the seller wants local value or international value (shipping required), it is hard to suggest a realistic price. Perhaps knowing where the bike is located would help with evaluation.
Anyway, nice bike and I loved my Tommasini when I owned it. Had it been the OP's model, I would probably still have the bike (love chromed lugs).

Well, there you go, somewhere between 3 hundred and 3 thousand, lol. So that 1500 seems reasonable.

I would encourage advertising locally but posting on eBay, where prices are always going to be higher. My suggested price range is very realistic based on recent actual Tecno sale prices on eBay:
$2,950 for a complete example:
Tommasini Tecno Steel Road Bike - Campagnolo Athena 11spd | eBay
$2,400 for another complete bike:
1998 Tommasini Tecno Road Bike 56cm. Lightly Ridden. Campagnolo Record/Chorus 10 | eBay
$1,400 for a frameset:
Vintage 55cm Tommasini Tecno Road Bike FRAME FORK Columbus EL Campagnolo Bicycle | eBay

Thats a very cool and distinctive classic. What market/country are you seeking a valuation for? That could have a big influence on what it’s currently worth - it seems fine bicycles like this are holding value much better in Europe than the US where most people on this forum seem to live.

Well, I just took a look a how much Tomassini bikes went for on Ebay. One, something kinda special went for close to $1500. Everything else went for well under a thousand. Are the bikes worth more? You bet but today's vintage bicycle market is somewhat challenged, in my opinion.

The Tecno is not just like any old Tommasini. It is made with oversized tubing and meant for strong or heavy riders. It only came into production in the 1990s and they regularly sell for more money than other models that may look similar but are not functionally the same, such as the Super Prestige and Sintesi.

Did you bother checking the three direct links above to Tommasini Tecno results ranging from $1,400-2,950 for recently completed auctions?

Would I pay over $1000 for any old road bike, or mountain bike, or roadster or BMX? No I wouldn't but that does not mean others won't. I do know one thing about absurdly priced items on Ebay. I sold this bottom of the line Raleigh Record for over $1,200.00 US plus shipping years ago. Two buyers got into a bidding war and that was that...

However, I hope I find out how much the OP's bike does sell for. As I have mentioned elsewhere, I am always open to leaning more about my vintage bicycle interest.

and the frame is almost 400 grams lighter at around 1860 grams compared to 2200+ for MX Leader.

Agree this is a "modern classic" and very nice lugged steel. I found this info from google chatGPT:
The Tommasini Tecno frame is constructed from steel, specifically using Columbus Nemo Nivacrom steel tubing on newer models and Columbus EL-OS tubing on older models from the 1990s. It is known for being a classic, high-performance frame that is both light and stiff, featuring Tommasini's own personalized microfusion lugs and often a full chrome finish.
I love the setup as shown and think it will sell for a nice price based on the market and how well the sale is setup.

Thanks everyone for chiming in. The bike is actually not for sale but let me at least share the background story.
A friend of mine has been nagging me to sell him the bike for several years now. In the end, I agreed but only if he'll buy it as a compete bike. What he offered, however, I felt was below what I considered this bike to be worth so I decided to ask the Forum. A shout out to Kilroy1988 who not only provided good info on what the setup is worth both in terms of a complete bike and as a frameset, but also understands the bike's value from the performance standpoint (how it rides compared to classical frames).
Once again, many thanks. Cheers everyone!

Can't say that I did. I did what I always do, look at Ebay Completed auctions/listings. That said, I stand by what I learned there but I am not a hard sell. If I am wrong, and I am frequently wrong, I say so.

Great price on a solid $50 bike ! It's always comforting to know that P.T. Barnum is still alive and well

I don't recall what feedback I received then but I do know that, with one exception, my Ebay feed back has been 100% positive so I guess the buyer was not worried about the result of his or her purchase. For those interested, the one negative feedback I received was thanks to a clever buyer in Europe. I sold a Rolls saddle, NOS or darn near it and the buyer said he never got it. He opened an Ebay complaint and one day after that complaint time expired the buyer said the saddle arrived. But the admission was too late. The Ebay robots had already closed the case and I lost the saddle and never got paid. But I learned. And what I mention below proved to be another learning opportunity.
Not sure if that makes me some kind of a scammer or dishonest person. I do know this for sure, a week or so later, I listed this Legnano for Ebay auction and my starting price was my usual $1.00 US. Anyone care to guess what I sold this sixties something Legnano Gran Premio for...

Randy, you did nothing wrong with the Raleigh -- it's not like you were making them bid.
I once sold a '79 Honda Goldwing on ebay that I had bought for around $500, I don't recall exactly, but it wasn't much, and it ended up selling for $3500, and being shipped to Kuwait of all places. The shipping must've cost half the purchase price. I just shrugged and thought 'whatever.'

Pretty sure the reference to PT was aimed at the buyers...sucker born every minute. Always nice to dig for silver and find gold.

For those interested, two weeks after the Raleigh sold, the Legnano was purchased through Ebay. i listed the Legnano for $1.00 US and sold it for $37.50 US. My loss and somebody else's gain. That was, however, the last auction starting at $1.00. Anyway, got another Legnano in the work/paint stand now. Hope to do paint and art before winter's end...
$37,50....
