Help Identifying my Peugeot?
I purchased this bike around 7 months ago, anybody able to help me figure out more about it?
The serial number is Y5C526172.
Here is a photo so that you can see the decals: https://s1181.photobucket.com/albums/...rent=photo.jpg
Also, I got it as is for $300. Fair deal?

I am no Peugeot expert but IMHO yes $300 was too much. is there any decal that tells the type of material, I know it is steel but does anything say HiTen, Mangalloy, Carbonlite? this looks like a "Fixie" that some hipster cobbled togather in his livingroom. te barslook like cut down dropbars rather than real 'bullhorn' or timetrial bars.

The frame is from a 1985 Peugeot P8, which would make the tubing Carbolite 103. It was entry level, sport/touring model, 2nd from the bottom of the line. Given the fixies/SS conversion, I can't set a value, but I least the previous didn't cut off the brazed-on fittings and derailleur hanger, so a restoration will be possible, should you desire.

Good deal? Unfortunately, not around here. That bike in pristine, ready to ride, original form, with all parts, might bring $200 at most. I have sold a couple of P8s this year. As mentioned by others, this one was not put together that well (cobbled together).
But if you like it and ride it, none of this matters.
For safety sake, personally, I would put at a minimum, a front brake on that bike (myself, I would put front and rear brakes on it). Someday you may need to stop in a hurry to avoid a collision. At that point, adding brakes will be too late. Your choice.
