1986 Trek 400 frame and fork only
it's a 56cm 1986 Trek 400 frame and fork only. the serial number is 239980 and it reportedly is made of Reynolds 531. I'm pretty sure it can take a take a geared wheel, right?
I posted a want add and I'm worried that because I listed the price I was willing to pay and I'm not very knowledgeable, people may try to pull a fast one on me.

I paid $170 for a complete & clean 1987 Trek 400 w/a Reynolds 531 frame. It was purchased during winter and mine is a size 63cm frame, yours will fit a larger demographic and be easier to move.
I would be happy if such a frame sold for $100.

Decals? Headbadge? Part of what people are buying are these original features. If the paint is not original, if the decals or headbadge are gone, the price drops. Can't tell from these pictures what is there, and what is missing.
Only the main frame is 531. Fork and stays are generic cromoly.
On closer look, the paint is not original, and the decals are gone. Not sure about the headbadge. Treks of that era had outstanding, highly durable paint. So not sure what is going on there. If the repaint is rattlecan or similar, the value is pretty low.

Trek 400 prices are all over the map. I think I can find more examples that makes $100 for the frame/fork seem high than low, so depending on the quality of the repaint, I agree with Barrettscv on being happy about selling one for $100.
