1991 Raleigh Technium Pro Aluminum

my brother just bought this thing on CL for 150, it has a full shimano 105 group, i think its a pretty nice bike, just needs a new set of tires

i think he scored a hell of deal, he's not so sure and thinks i pushed him into it..

Wish you had a bigger picture, but from what I can see the bike is in very nice shape. Paint and decals look good. The Shimano 105 is original and complete which is a plus and in my experience it's a very reliable group, but just alittle light on the bling factor, so not a big deal. Tires are not a huge expense and once on will last for many miles. If the bonded joints are in good shape, then yes, I also think he got a very nice deal.

I don't know how much more one can expect for $150...

That's a very good deal unless Rochester is a super soft market. The 1991 Raleigh Pro retailed for $760US and Bicycling magazine rated it as one of their Best Buys for 1991. It doesn't appear to be the original, complete group, as the pedals appear to be replacements. 1991 105SC may not have had the STI and 8th cog of that year's Dura-Ace but it does have a nice 7 speed HG cassette and the sublime dual pivot brakes. On top of that the indexing is compatible with other Shimano groups, unlike that year's Dura-Ace.

I would have snapped it up in a New York minute (sorry). But then, my opinion is based on the '89 PRE that I nearly stold for 100.00. No worries on the bonded frame, really. The front end feels a bit light at first and the stretched geometry of the top tube gives you great comfort riding in the drops. He'll have fun with this one and the price helps that along.

The Shimano 105 group is worth the purchase price alone. Buy it from your brother if he is unhappy.

i went by and saw it after work, its in really great shape for how old it is, steel bits on the components are rusty, but the rest of the frame is in really nice shape, its a 7spd indexed shifting, he told me if he doesn't want it i could buy it from him,, so thats good, not that i need it
