how much is my 1980's guerciotti alan worth ?
Hi everyone !, I have a 1980's Guerciotti Alan with the oval top tube and Campy Record throughout. I had a bike store put it together in the late 80's and never rode it. I've had it hanging for about 15 years +. The frame is new and everything on it is new. It is just real dusty. Your thoughts please... I could try to get more information off the bike if you tell me where to look. Thanks in advance !!

What was it doing in the 90's? Are you looking for valuation? IF so we need..........................................PICTURES! Also components, sizes, tire type ( Tubular or clincher) so on and on. What did you order when you had it built up. What type of tubing.

I think these Guerciotti Alans might have come in three "flavors". Is your bike the Aluminum, Aluminum/Carbon or full Carbon version? The CF versions of the Alan made frames usually sell for a little bit more than the full alumunim versions.
We need more details and pics of your Guerciotti/Alan bike to give you an idea on how mich it could be worth.....

whoops...
1980's Guerciotti Alan, it has the tapered top tube. Bike has less that 5 miles on it. It has all campy parts on it, down to the seat post retainer bolt. I would classify it as new and very dusty. I built it in late 80's and never rode it. Just hung it in garage. Has brand new Campagnolo Record : brakes, chainrings, crank, deraileurs, and downtube shifters. low flange hubs, brake levers (full groupo). Has 12 speeds (2 x 6). Cinelli front stem, and campy seat post. Mavic 40 rims. Everything was new. I am 5'6" and bike built for me.

You have a very nice one there. It does look NOS. A bit small in size (52cm?) but still a size that many C&V collectors/riders out there will fit into. The very new looking Mavic Clincher wheelset certainly helps to pull in more buyers, plus the very nice and new condition high line Campy components is always a big plus.
I can see an enthusiastic bidder paying around $800+/- for the bike and maybe a bit more if you get a bidding war going between a few guys that are big fans aluminum Alans/Guerciottis. It can easily sell for more if the C&V bike market isn't so depressed because of the recession.
As I noted, a similar condition CF version might get a bit more as CF construction just gives it just a little bit more of an exotic boost.
Good luck if you decide to go ahead and sell it.

Yup, a guy in my area, San Francisco, offered me 900.00, but he flaked, but after I got it off the hooks, I had second thoughts. So you all think ebay would be my best bet? Or should I post up in the marketplace here?

Bikes: No-name LH drive track. Also ride an Exxon Graftek, a Masi, a Trek R200 or a RR Boneshaker for fun!

Pretty bike, try eBay with local pickup only option and US bidders only if you are new to selling. The marketplace here might work as well (but whispering, he said...eBay might have a little more traffic) (please don't hurt me...).
