1992 Bridgestone XO-1

Hey guys, I am thinking about thinning the herd this coming spring. One bike I may sell is my 1992 Bridgestone XO-1. I am hoping you can give me a realistic sense of what I should be able to get for it. Here are some pictures, though I'd take better ones (like, sharp ones) for the eBay ad. The bike is not quite a garage queen, but not terribly far off. All components are original as far as I know (I have the original pedals somewhere). It has Grant Petersen's signature for what that's worth.

What do you think? (P.S. I couldn't find any completed sales, but I did look.)

You have got to be kidding?

I sold one three years ago for three times this amount.

I would clean this up and ebay should take care of this for you straight away.

$1,200 is where I would start.

BTW Cool bike. Wish I hadn't sold mine. It was pumpkin orange and really a fun all around rider.

I looked some more, the last sale of one on eBay was almost half a year ago, and the auction pics are no longer available. Not a lot of data points.

That's because there are very few of these left.

Especially in this condition.

Don't give this one away.

I did some research, and wow I didn't realize how relatively few were made. 1,000.

GMG is right - I've seen about 3-4 sell and they go between 1000 - 1200.

I would say the value is somewhere in the middle around $700-800. Yet it could be a tough sell for getting full value most buyers don't consider Bridgestone when it comes to high end bikes and don't know what the XO-1 means. Also while totally cool the updated stem and mustache bars are just not what most buyers are looking for.

I sold one in prime condition for $1k via CL a few years back. I would have kept it but it was a bit small. Plus I had a 1992 XO-2 in my size.

Too low.

I've seen a nos pumpkin orange frameset sell within an hour on ebay for the BIN of $700.

Two years ago.

As for the bars, it was the design's calling card.

FYI There is a very well known (locally) racing shop in Mpls. that has one of these on display. There isn't a week that goes by without someone making an offer.

I disagree with zukhan - there are a lot of Riv fans and all of them know what this is. It's an easy sell with a hot market.

The review is spot on about the handlebars. I really wanted to like them but couldn't even after extensive riding.

Those bars have their fans...many here like them. Have you ridden one GMG? What did you think? I've wanted to try one of these since reading abut them 20 years ago.

Yes, I had an XO1 for a year. I never found those handlebars to be useful off-road.

Just not suited for the light single track I tried to use them on.

They were comfortable on the city streets though. Afforded a nice up-right riding position.

In addition, my kids put them on a single speed Miyata project with the same mixed results.

The bars need a stem like a Nitto Dirt Drop to be comfortable or at least an equivalent to get them high enough.

Otherwise they produce all sorts of lower back or wrist pain from too much weight being pushed forward.

The stock stem on XO1 seemed to get the bars high enough for most riders though.

Agreed, anything less than $1000 is a bargain. Put the words "Grant Peterson" and "Rivendell" in the ebay listing and that thing will sell quick.

That's a beauty.

Smaller size won't help, nor will location.

Nor will the dent.

That would still likely light up the phones here in the Twin Cities.

Especially if it were a 56cm.
