Inquiry - What to Build
Please give me your thoughts on what to build.
I have wanted for some time now a vintage, steel, (friction) Suntour equipped bike.
Thanks to some BF Members, I have a nice pair of Suntour Cyclone front and rear derailleurs, and a very nice Cyclone crank set.
I have a almost new wheel set: Suntour Supurbe Pro hubs laced to Mavic Open Pro Wheels.
Additionally, I have a Suntour Winner 6 speed freewheel and Cyclone Brake Set. That is Suntour equipped enough for me.
The question is what frame to build around?
Schwinn Peloton (white and black)
Univega Super Strada (red)
or Schwinn Super Sport (purple and white)

You should definitely build the Vega...and sell the two Schwinns...to me...cheap

Looks like the Univega has the single shifter stud for top-mounted shifters, if that weighs in to your build at all. If you do decide to go that route, I have the top-mount SunTour Symmetric shifters that I just took off my Univega that you can have for free... I only took them off because I prefer SunTour barcons.

Peloton, then equip that super sport with functional but less blingy components... then sell the Univega to digger at gouging status prices.

The Peloton is the nicest frame of the three but they are all very nice and should build up to be somewhat comperable riders.

Thank you all. I appreciate the advice. Thank you for the offer of the shifters. I will check the parts bin. I am 40-60% sure I have the shifters - and I know I have a set of barcons. If I am wrong - which happens every so often - I will PM you.
In addition to the Cyclone front and rear derailleurs for the current build, I have two NOS Suntour group sets - one a Sprint 7000, the other a Cyclone 7000. I wonder if one of the matched group sets would be better for the Peloton.

Peloton. Anything with Vega in the name scares me after Chevrolet named one of the worst cars of the 70's that.

Well the Peloton is obviously the "best" frame of the three, but I think Cyclone would be fitting on any of those frames. So it depends what you want. If you want the nicest bike, by all means build up the Peloton. On the other hand, you could probably sell that frameset for the most money (if selling the other two is your plan.)

What components would fit best on the build?
So far it is:
Supurbe Pro hubs laced to Mavic Open Pro rims
Brooks Brown B-17 (I will add the tool bag later)
Cyclone Cranks
Tange (Falcon?) headset
Choices are a Sprint Group, a Cyclone Group, Cyclone separate components, and (not pictured) the 4050 Accushift Group.

Just thought of this a bit nit picky but wouldn't the Cyclone stuff be more vintage correct appropiate on the univega.

Yes.
I probably will be able to piece together cyclone components for the Univega.
I may have to go with Dia Comp brakes and another crank - but that will be next winter.
