SOLD! 1983 Trek 720 Touring- $700
SOLD! Selling my first quest bike to make room for another 720 that fits me a little bit better. Pictures coming momentarily... Beautiful, and tall(!), vintage Trek touring bike from the prime of Trek's handmade bicycle building days here in Waterloo, WI. This has a really nice mix of the best in new (Shimano bar end shifters, MKS Sylvan pedals, Panaracer Kevlar tires, sealed cartridge bottom bracket, Sunrace freewheel, Deore rear derailleur) and vintage (TA Cyclotouriste crankset, appropriate Simplex front derailleur (new old stock), Cinelli bars and stem. spec Deore canti brakes, Joytech sealed bearing hubs (freshly overhauled) on Weinmann concave rims (trued), Avocet Touring I saddle, and Jim Blackburn rear touring rack). The tall frame (64 cm C-C seat tube, 58 cm C-C top tube) is silver brazed full Reynolds 531 frame, stays, and fork with nice Cinelli lugwork and Campagnolo dropouts, and would be a good fit for someone over 6' tall. I did some heavy duty loaded touring and the bike tracked like it was on rails, though as a short legged 6 footer I was definitely pushing the standover clearance! I've just converted it over to 700C wheels and there is at least 1/2 inch of clearance on all sides of the 28c tires leading me to believe you could run at least 35c tires if not bigger. Come give it a test ride today! Willing to ship if you find a shop in Madison willing to pack and ship- you coordinate and pay and I'll drop it off.
