Easy frame identification
i hope ....... lol
has original paint ( color a clue ? ) , matching ishiwata sloping crown fork marked 4 D , suntour gs III dropouts
, flat crimping on drive side stay at dropout , , no head tube holes for badge , no serial number , english threads , 27.2 post of course , has clear plastic tape where derailleur goes , a very nice frame really ... any ideas ? thanks

I'd guess it's a Trek from the early 80's.

ok , i went to the vintage trek site and it says all treks have trek embossed somewhere on the frame except the TX900 , which this frame is not .
so its NOT a trek ..... what the heck is it ?
maybe not as easy as i thought ..... hmmmm

Another idea: could there have been damage to the rear dropouts, which prompted someone to repair and repaint, leaving the trek embossed nowhere? Also could this be a late Ishiwata/O22? At the end of the period of these models the Ishiwata was dropped.

i looked at the trek links and like i said they all have trek on the frame somewhere
the ebay bike ive seen before and its not the same
maybe we need to start a list of manufacturers that didnt have serial numbers on their bikes
n stuff
oh and theres no indication of any repairs on this frame
