So I'd like to restore a road bike and customize it just for me as a project this summer. That includes buying a frame, getting it repainted, putting new components on it, etc. I would love a Bianchi frame but I'm not sure which one to get. I'm looking for a hidden gem at a reasonable price. I've looked through nearby kijiji listings and hoped everyone could help me narrow the selection down, or if they are all bad I'll keep an eye out and update the thread. Some things to keep in mind is I'd like to put in the full 2015 Shimano 105 5800 groupset (I already have it purchased, new, so it's not something I'd like to change), even the hubs so I'd rebuild the wheels. Details I like but don't need include intricate details, especially by the seatpost and where the frame's joints. I'd like to be able to attach a rack and fenders since I want this to be a commuter/utility road bike, not a racing bike. I'm 6'4" FYI in terms of finding the right size. And last thing, it would be cool (but not necessary) if it was a Bianchi that was made in Italy. Hopefully if there's a really good bike no one will be selfish and get it for themselves instead of helping me And in case you couldn't tell I'm kind of new to the bike world (well only in the technicalities and details). #1 , #3 , and #7 - 10 are definitely going to be too small for you.

No. 4 is too small too. So that leaves 2, 5, 6, which I believe are all Japanese built frames. If you don't mind a trip to Detroit to pick it up and you don't mind a fine Japanese frame with a Japanese name on it, rather than an Italian named Japanese bike with Japanese components, I have this Shogun 1000 available in your size, for a fraction of the price.

I always thought that summer was for riding, and winter was for building/wrenching.

In the winter, prices drop with falling demand. There's also more cooped-up time where you can pour over the details of the build and do the work. Seems to me that your timing is backward from both cost and time availability perspectives. What am I missing?

The OP lives where there is about 17 hours of daylight at this time of year. If he uses all of that for riding, I have a new hero.

All those Bianchis are Japanese Bianchis, not a bad thing. Get the biggest one. Or anything you can find in a 25" (63-64cm frame). At 6'4", don't even think of going any smaller.

Old bikes are sure expensive in Toronto.
