thanks for the picture. she looks like she may be a contract build ca. 1972 or so. omg chainset, sheffield pedals, balilla brakes, velox rear mech, valentino front mech. suspect head may be bulge-formed but not enough res in photo to tell for sure. do skewers say gnutti, campag or nervex? hubs look to be unmarked gnutti. are dropouts marked? if marked, likely campag sport. if not marked likely agrati. chance tubing may be some form of quality plain gauge such as zeta or z50. are there remains of a tubing transfer on seat tube?

I believe there is some association between Ghisallo bicycles and a church in Italy. They are decidedly not a department store quality maker. I believe Citoyen du Monde may be able to provide much more information.

I saw that bike on CL. Asked myself about it. Won't be going for it but was slightly tempted.

It's intriguing, for sure, and it would get me into the "what bike do you have that no one else has" club, as well as the Molteni orange club, but it may be gone before I could get there. Also, I'm not sure I want to get into cottered cranks.

Offer 75 to 90 and see what he counters with. Frame is the main thing better if it's your ideal size.

The Madonna del Ghisallo is considered to be the patron saint of cyclists, hence the reason that chapel is filled with bicycles and right next to the chapel there is a bicycle museum. I truly doubt that an Italian would use the name Ghisallo for a bicycle brand as it smacks of immorality. The rim company has every right to use the name because they are located a stone throw away from the chapel. Just to confirm my hunch, I asked a few people in Italy and they all said that it would be very gauche to name a bicycle brand Ghisallo (even if they all agreed that naming a model, especially a hill climbing bike very appropriate).
