Suntour V GT Luxe worn out?
I have a Suntour V GT luxe RD that has a lot of lateral play (if you grab hold of the lower cage you can move it quite a bit in either direction. I have the same DR on another bike and it doesn't have any play at all. It seems to me the issue is with the 3 pins that hold the articulating arm pieces together (I don't know what they are called). Can these pins be removed and refurbished or replaced to tighten things up? Thanks!

If it were my bike, I would replace the whole derailleur. The Suntour V GT Luxe is easy enough to replace. There are some with high asking prices on ebay, but they never sell at those prices.

I somewhat dismiss my own concerns about that kind of freeplay.
Seems that the constant spring and chain tension(s) keeps the freeplay "loaded" in one direction at all times.
Unless the bike is showing a pronounced tendency to shift up and down when traversing sharp bumps, or has extremely unresponsive shifting, I don't think that it causes any other problems and can be ignored.

Way back, that was my one criticism of the Suntour V luxe, they were not designed to be serviceable and the roll pins acting as pivots did present an edge that would I felt eventually cut into the adjoining metal.
Took long enough though.
Buy an alternate at this point, Blueline, Cyclone…
With enough machinery at hand I am sure it could be retrofitted with oversized pivots… if you had the means.

It's hard to say "There's better" but Suntour made a lot of inspirationally awe inspiring derailleurs. I've you've got a VGT Luxe, I'd find a Cyclone GT... Just because.
