Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?
I confess that I sold off almost all my C&V fleet - but the best are in a good place and close enough that I make a point of routinely visiting & riding them. They were meant to be ridden.

I'll get the group down to 5/6 during the next year. One garage queen and the rest riders.

Lascauxcaveman being in Port Angeles make the DeRosa & Eddy & others = a regular quickie vacation. He has yet to ride the Pinarello Cadore, so that's the newest excuse to stay at the Downtown Hotel (& Bicycle Haven). This time a ride to Neah Bay or quick hop to Victoria if the weather's perfect.

My daughter is the fashion police here. She gets really mad if my shirt, water bottle, and bike colors are not properly coordinated. Also, socks must match the shoes.

Gotta get back out to PA for a weekend before the weather turns. Maybe after the Kittitas County Fair...

I don't really care about the "classic" nature of older bikes. I like C&V bikes because you can ride, work on bikes, swap out parts, do some fun wrenching for relatively cheap- (cheap when it comes to cycling as a hobby, I'm sure we all manage to spend more money than is neccesary)
I also prefer Nashville Skyline to Blonde on Blonde, and i'll raise you Blood on the Tracks.

@seedsbelize - I didn't know you like silk scarves!! Or is it the spoke protectors we're talking about?

Not long ago, a brief foray into "safety uber alles" commuting somehow overwhelmed all sense of good taste and personal dignity. For about six weeks my bike looked like this:

...and it will forever haunt me.

...and it will forever haunt me.

Reviving this thread to confess that today I hooked up a kid-hauling bike trailer to a Univega Superstrada.
My boy wanted a bike instead of a car ride to his preschool, and it occurred to me that I don't currently own a dedicated do-random-stuff-like-haul-a-kid bike right now. So the old race bike got pressed into some rather dubious service. Almost took a picture but really, it was pretty horrifying.

3speedslow -- The yellow stripes on the frame are super-reflective safety tape. But they looked out of place with the black saddle and tape, so I swapped those out for yellow to maximize daytime visibility. The end result was the wretched mess of a Super Sport you see before you.

Bikes: Indeed!
1-I don't much care for most Hetchins frames, too gaudy and the lines of their ornate lugs have no fluidity to them.
2-I mix Record 10-speed carbon brifters with Shimano XT derailleurs on two of my bikes.
3-I own 3 aluminum bikes, one fixie, and two skinsuits.
4-I carry a GPS on all my rides and have even mounted it to the handlebars of some of my vintage bikes... and download all my rides to Strava.
5-I think that N+1 is overrated but my bikes don't agree: They seem to multiply in my basement when I'm not looking.
6-I always leave the valve caps on my presta valves, like little condoms, in the hope that it will slow down the bicycle population explosion. (See number 5 above)
7-I've built a hundred or so wheels over the years and don't know if I have ever lined up the valve hole so that you can see the hub logo through it. But then I never look through my valve holes anyway since they usually have valves in them.
8-I've become blase about Campy Nuovo Record.
9-I commuted across San Francisco on a Schwinn Hollywood for two years.
10-I wear black socks when riding my 70's vintage race bike.
