Very nice. San Remos are impossible to date. Near as I can tell, top tube cable eyelets are early-mid 80s and cable running through the tube is closer to 90. I also read somewhere about a later production run of San Remos around 2000. My guess is these would have wider rear spacing and possibly different tubing.

Thanks! I think the pearl white paint is working well with the blue decals and the gold accents... will post better pics once it's complete. The bike shop threw on blue benotto tape but I didn't like how shiny and bright it was. Now going with black cloth tape, which looks much better with the suede Concor saddle.

Hi, going to chime in here and say that when you find something that does it for you then take the leap. You may not get another or better chance in a reasonable time frame especially if you can afford it. Its worth will be decided by you at the end of the day. I waited 40 years to get what I wanted, 2 Jim Merz customs from the 70's. Paid a lot, probably too much, would do it again in a heartbeat for more if necessary, could not be happier. At the end of the day, "a bird in the hand....."

Looks great! A fresh shiny paint job just makes a person feel good!
I've got a Olmo Competition with a fair bit of patina, but it's a good bike and I love all of the panto'd parts. It's a great example of how manufacturers looked for ways to make their bikes stand out from the crowd when everyone was using the same top frame tubing and components.

Thanks, guys! And if you ever need help restoring a bike, The Bicycle Stand in Long Beach, CA is the place. Thanks to David there, who worked hard to get everything done perfectly (especially the paint in the pantos).

Update - matching frame pump
Olmo silca.jpg
OK, I finally gave in and bought one of the new Silca Impero pumps. I had it painted the matching pearl white color and used a couple extra Olmo decals on the pump. IMO it looks fantastic on the bike. And unlike the old Silcas, this one actually works!
