It's a Taiwan bike, Cromo frame, looks like decent Shimano shifter/derailleurs and DiaCompe brake levers. It's not ridable but seems like it won't take a whole lot to get that way. It was at a yard sale around the corner, the guy wanted $25 but I bartered it down to $15. I figure with the vintage Spuds Mackenzie mug for a buck I didn't do too bad, hell then again that might be worth more than the bike.

It looks to be a 1991 or so model.
It looks like it has Deore LX ? its a good grouppo, i have a 1990 Trek 7000 that has Deore LX on it and its solid.

Yes they are LX, I thought they looked quite decent. It seems to have aluminum wheels too. I really have no use for it, but especially sitting next to a couple of Walmart clunkers I thought it looked worth saving.

Complete with the Avocet saddle that the nylon cover came off. I had one of those.

I tore into it a little today, it had been left behind at the trailer some new people moved into, the former residents were real trailer trash so it was well neglected. The bottom bracket and rear wheel hub are both frozen up pretty good, I'm optimistic that tearing into them for some cleaning and repacking will remedy that. The chain is fairly rusty but should clean up fine. The rear tire has age cracks from sitting flat so long, otherwise both tires look pretty good and both tubes hold air. The front wheel is missing a spoke, and it's pretty obvious the brakes and derailleurs need adjusted, but all the cables look good. I did steal the water bottle cages off it to put on my Trek, they look way better than the bulky plastic crap that was on it. So it's looking like my $15 wasn't too poorly spent.

I remember selling those, but it's been ages. They were pretty nice bikes. IIRC they cost around $500 new, but recollection is more than a little fuzzy. I'm sure you could google it. Anyway for $15 it was a no brainer. They complemented Bridgestones in the shop I worked. A bit shorter top tube made them more comfortable for some people. TIG'ed frame vs lugged.
*(edit) ~$600 new

I love vintage mtbs. I ride two regularly as commuters: a 1992 Trek 950 and a 1988 Stumpjumper comp. They make fine utility bikes and parts are easy peasy to find for them.
