So...let me get this straight...you can eat less (or better) and exercise more? That really works? I gotta try it sometime. Now where did I leave that bag of Cheetos...?

Bikes: A green one, "Ragleigh," or something.

To me, fall riding is all about free apples.

So many neighborhoods around here with overgrown, neglected, ignored apple trees heavily burdened with unpicked fruit. The one above is on my commute, about a mile from home. A couple tree-ripend apples gives me enough sugar to tackle that last 400 feet of climbing.

I didn't say that. I think I'm eating more now. I'm also eating more frequently.

Despite catching what I am now sure is the flu this past weekend, the wife and I went to a nice B&B in the Shenandoah hills of VA. I took the bike and managed one 20 miler that took almost 2 hours, what with the coughing and such. Still, it's autumn, the weather is grand, the leaves are falling. Now I'm paying for it.

solid copy, that was my tongue in cheek response that you're following a common-sense regimen and seemingly experiencing outstanding results. A path most of us would do well to follow.

I took advantage of the nice 70 degree weather we had today and got out on my Trek for a couple of hours. The colors seem to be coming a little later this year. I made it home just in time as we had a short thunderstorm about 20 minutes after I finished.

It's that crappy cold that just doesn't go away.

I'm almost through it and I think it's week 3.

Ick.

Anyone for some Autumn spooky rides? Terrible pics but from late last night- in the boonies gravel, dependent only on a 1/2 moon, no lights and some wind. The only reason for the pics illumination was the phones flash. Though kind of neat as the eyes adjust completely to the nominal light and can see the trails without artificial lighting. Tonight should be a bit calmer and will ride something having a silent hub. Quite a hoot

Nice shots...be careful out there! I used to do those sorts of rides until I hit an unseen rock once that vaulted me right over the bars. Thought I had broken my ankle, but it was just bashed, along with the rest of me. You hit things funny in the dark, unseen.

If that's Lord Hill, which pond? And is that a fairly large frog I see on that log in the first pic?

Thinking of heading out there tomorrow...

That's Temple Pond. If you want a pretty good workout, take the river trail(all the way down to the river). Thomas has a pretty sour taste in his mouth for Lord Hill, after that little excursion.

Thanks, Roger - I'll try that route. And, damn, that's a big bullfrog! Haven't seen anything like that in a long time!

A lot of NW flavor to this thread. Dig it.

Thanks for the complement Roger. It was a blast to do.

I always enjoy the kid pics. It was when my boys were that age that I got into vintage bikes. Time to stop and smell the roses. Now they are off to college.

Fox River Trail from Carpentersville to St. Charles Il. A nice 30 mile first ride on the newly built up Fausto Coppi, my only bike at the moment.
