Ah c'mon, I've met your SO.

Seems very nice. She lets you keep your impressive bike shop in the basement well stocked. :)

You are correct. Only kidding, unless she learns an n+1 is brewing.

Built from an Ebay frame:

Purchased new in 1997, rebuilt 2 years ago but recently put the original rigid fork back on, she's riding this one to work and back.

and this one just because, it's nowhere close to being as heavy as it looks. It's actually pretty light.

My wife's bikes are nicer than mine.

I have some nice bikes.

That's just self preservation. When I was at 23 bikes she threatened to leave them out in a snow drift.

She couldn't take it anymore. It was a bit surreal.:)

The seat post is lower on both of these, I just was getting everything dialed in

I should say you do! :)

Fwiw

My wife's illegimate Primato is pretty fancy, but it just hangs on a hook.

Comes out when she wants to whoop us.

Mostly, she just zooms around on her Stumpjumper.

I wish she would let me buy/build something that was more efficient, but she'll have none of it.

Maybe I just need to surprise her. :)

Mine rides an aluminum Trek 7200. When I talk about getting her something with drop bars to be more efficient, I just get the look.

She has this cute little Lobster that she never rides:

The tandem is her baby. We put 50 to 60 miles on it each week.

This is my wife's 87 Raleigh. It hasn't been ridden now in over two years. Maybe three.

My wife has a 2013 Trek FX 7.5 and a 2015 Electra cruiser of some sort. Nothing too crazy as she only rides because I do otherwise she hates riding. Haha. She just bought the Electra because it's pink and she's always wanted a pink cruiser.

My wife has a Ridgeback cromoly touring bike that she got in the 90s to take a group of high school students on a cycling tour of Brittany. It weighs a ton and has unfortunately been neglected. I think rebuilding it will be this winter's project. Right now she commutes on a Nashbar alloy road frame with a Campy Veloce 10 speed gruppo and Miche wheels.

She isn't much of a rider but when we do go for rides it has been on this lately:

For a single, this is her typical ride, not C&V yet:

And if I can get her in the mood, her C&V ride bought new in 1974:

2000 GT Saddleback.
1988 Raleigh Horizon.
My case.

She rides all three, not in that order.

That being said, if she wanted a new bike today, with all the bells and whistles, I'd make it happen.

My wifey has three bikes: (1) 2010 Fuji Finest, (2) 2013 Cannondale hybrid and (3) 1992 Tommasini Super Prestige...

1978 Raleigh Sports. This is her daily commuter. Now has Tekro front brakes, more baskets, VeloOrange poerteur stand, and better lighting. When she decided to get a bike, this is the one and only bike she looked at. Weighs in at over 20 Kg, not including the stuff she puts in the bags and baskets. Occasionally, I have taken her to an LBS just to compare new vs old, light vs heavy, steel vs aluminum, internal vs derailleur, etc. She has yet to find anything that she likes more.

Once we got it dialed in, it just needs air in the tires and the very occasional wipedown and degreasing of the rims. Surprisingly, she hasn't had a flat in a year of daily commuting. The building at work does not have a bike rack, so she gets to park it in the office. At home, it is parked in the living room, under air conditioning. Not a bad life, for a bicycle. It gets used every day and climate controlled.

In one of those strange things about C&V, the USB NiteRider 700 light cost about 2x of the bike on Craigslist. Still worth it.

My wife started out on this.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=486119 She stayed with it and signed up for a tri. So I built this up for her. Now it is mostly stays on a trainer indoors.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=486121The Centurion Mixte became my 11 year old daughter's ride. My 13 year old son does some organized rides with me. So I built this up as a choice to his mtn bike. He thought the seat was fine and didn't want it changed. He has grown some so the seat has come up some. Sweet looking ride! BTW that is a 52/40/30 and 13-30 on the Lotus. The Suntour BL handles it with no problems.

My wife has a Schwinn Suburban that is currently not in riding condition and has to be 40+ lbs. It's too hilly around here to ride as it is, I would have to put a triple crankset on it. What she does ride is a Jamis Allegro hybrid. It has a triple crankset, grip shifters, and an aluminum frame. It weighs about 25 lbs. It came with Vittoria wire bead clinchers that are marked as 32mm but are 28 at best and are heavy. It has 32 mm folding Pasela PTs on it, quite an improvement. I think I can get 35 mm T-servs on it but not 38 as the chainstays are too narrow.
