Bikes: Miyata 618 GT, Marinoni, Kestral 200, Soma double cross 2002 Trek 5200, KHS Flite, Koga Miyata, Schwinn Spitfire 5, Mondia Special, Univega Alpina, Miyata team Ti, Santa Cruz Highball, Waterford rs11

Bike Save, Frame ID

Saved a bike from 'drew before he went off to college.

BMZ on bottom bracket and number 53, which I guess is frame size.

Columbus sticker on frame and logo's on fork crown and seat stay. Campy drops and a star on inside of fork lug.

Any ideas?

I see that BMZ is a maker of multiple brands. What's their story?

I have a friend who covets it. It's a 53cm. When I went after his Kestral and Waterford, he made it work. I'm in the 58-60 range so I think he holds the trump card on me. By the way, the seat post is stuck...

Have you tried putting the bike upside down and reaching through the BB to fill the seat tube with PB Blaster? It worked for me. I let it soak several days, then putting a junk seat on the post tightly and gave it a few sharp whacks with a dead-blow hammer. Before the third hit to the nose of the seat, it began to twist. After it breaks free, let it soak a few more days. Hopefully you can bust it loose. This worked well on my '77 Colnago which was not a bike I wanted this problem with.

Good part of trading is you get to let someone else do that, but I'll get the process started. Seat post is marred up pretty bad, so no big loss.

I used to have a BMZ made Palo Alto. Good save there.

Seat post was coaxed loose, but Suntour BB was fused. New owner used the lye method and got it out without too much damage (paint). As he has it now...
