Don't know: it's a genuine fork but I'm suspicious of the serial number stamped on the side of the seat tube: smells wrong. The frame does seem to have good chrome and long Campy DOs, plus was made for a nutted brake, so it's an earlier vintage than the fork, I think.

Agree on the frame being "suspicious" If it is indeed a Sprint, most of the Sprints I am aware of are Falk tubing. They also do not have any chrome on the stays. I too question the fork going with this frame.

Bikes: too many or not enough

The decals are from the mid 80s. The lug cutouts are not correct. The top of the seat stays aren't correct. etc. etc. The fork looks like a Guerciotti fork but that is about it.

2.1 kilo without the fork? That's not heavy at all. It looks to be a good frame, just not a Guerciotti. Build it and ride it.

I'd rather wind up with that frame than a real Guerciotti, which it isn't - apart from that fork. Doesn't look too bad at all.

My Guerciotti takes offense to this.

Exceptions to late-model Gooches - especially with that paint job.

I plead the fifth.

I wouldn't even rule out different subcontractors. I can count on one hand how many Guerciottis I've seen from the same era of which supposedly identical models carry the same exact frame details. Most of them are never identical.

Identical in which way? I mean they were "handbuilt bikes" so their bound to be different from one another. Though handbuilt and production handbuilt is a different story.

Varying brake bridges, lugs, dropouts, braze-ons and fork crowns.

The solid-color, post-1984 TSD bikes are the only ones that show reasonable similarities. Everything else has a parts-bin quality to it, even the late oversized Columbus EL frames (some EL frames have traditional stays, other have stays lifted from the MAX tubeset, some have mitered stays, others are capped, et cetera).
