I finally found the tuner to complete my seventies Onkyo system. There are two turntables connected also. Onkyo made great stuff, but it flies under the collector radar. I only had to give $11.35 for the tuner and it's like new.

Keeping the old stuff running requires some work. This high end cassette needs belts. I have five complete vintage systems set up,so it's always something. I enjoy doing it.

I have it playing now on a sweet 1968 Sansui 5000 and little AR B18 speakers. My daughter already yelled at me to turn it down. That happens a lot here. I said I would but I didn't. Her two week old daughter seems to be digging it. She's laying five feet from the speakers.

Honestly, I didn't notice until I saw you quoted it...

If you look in the background, it looks like she's in a bakery warehouse with bags of flour or something...

Bikes: blue ones.

Just heard this dude do a Lohengrin here in Amsterdam on friday. It was amazing.

https://youtu.be/f_wH7zbGWpo And then I went to see Star Wars this monday. John Williams did some major league notes taking while listening to Richard W., that's for sure.

Thanks, you just sent me on an hour of listening to this and other Playing for Change videos. The first one I saw years ago was "Stand By Me", and in my mind it is still the best.

This video is fascinating in viewing the complexities of wildlife. Some may find it mildly disturbing. I don't think of woodpeckers as predating on other birds.

OK, vintage music lovers, check out these Ben Hamper radio archives. Hamper is a pretty interesting Michiganian - you can read up on him on Wiki if you are inclined.

His broadcasts come in 3 flavors (that I know of):

1. Early R&B Soul Possession series.

2. Early country/*****tonk/rockabilly Head for the Hills series.

3. Michigan garage rock (eg. early Iggy, Bob Seger and the Heard, long before Night Moves) Smell the Mitten series. Link is to volume I. There are 3 volumes that I know of; search for others if you are inclined.

Enjoy!

Speaking of music... My young, (28) nephew visited for the holidays, and gave me a copy of Mr. Bungle...their California CD. As he knew I liked Captain Beefheart, he figured these guys were naturally influenced by the good Captain. As well as F. Zappa. Maybe so. I'm not so sure. Still trying to wrap my ears, and head, around this bizarre music.

Bikes: are fun!

This thread is lonely, don't let it be, it's a good thread.

Here's a drumset.

(I thought there was a C&V drums thread somewhere, but landed here after too much looking. It's probably for the best.)

Fun thread! Lots of interesting randomness.

I've been out gardening this weekend. Got my furrows dug and a trellis built over some tomatoes and peppers I planted today. The rest of the crop (sweet corn, summer squash, cucumbers, and okra) were all planted by seed 15 days ago and sprouting well. Working with about 600 square feet this season.

Very nice. Those collectors are morons, Onkyo was always great stuff, period, sheesh!
