Bikeless
I officially have 0 bikes for the first time in 10 years or so, making this year around n-25. I landed in the UK around 3 months ago and waiting for my Lemond to get here I purchased a Trek 1000 to keep me going. My Lemond arrived with the rest of our belongings about 1 month ago and all was well again. Fast forward to last weekend just having moved into our new place when I found myself looking at bike shaped nothing. After shipping and having to put down almost a year rent in bonds and advance on our store, I am not in a position to replace them without a screaming deal coming my way. Very angry with myself as the were only in the shed for a couple of nights until we cleared some of the moving boxes from the space inside we had earmarked for the bikes.
Police informed and sounded as promising as the police always sound when euphemistically saying "Yup, you're SOL"
Oh well back to the hunt, for my bikes,as I scrutinize any bike i see riding down the street and for that ever elusive bike bargain.

So sorry to hear of your news. Sounds like a rough patch to go through right now. Moving to another country can be very expensive I assume since you have stuff and Spouse. My move to Germany back in the mid 80's was made less complicated by literally not bringing anything over and acquiring as I went. I did have my bike sent though.
Hope the screaming deal finds you.
Better to be car less then bike less.

Bikes: A green one, "Ragleigh," or something.
^ Just what I was thinking. Maybe there's a British C&Ver your size close by that's looking to N-1, or maybe just make a long-term loan of one of his many spares.
Hang in there!

As I understand it, London is pretty bad for bike thefts. I don't know about other cities.
I would have to think that somewhere there will be a beaten up MTB for a few quid... (can I use that?). Then as finances improve, keep your eyes open for your next dream bike.
