OMG, most entertaining thread award today!!!

Velocivixen, please try to watch Breaking Away. It's worth your time. It's not a great movie, but it is definitely a good one, and there are a lot of cultural references you will want to know. In a way, it's a seminal picture for us cyclephiles.

mountaindave 05-09-16 04:12 PM

I defy any C/Ver to dislike Breaking Away. It's a coming of age film, just happens to have a bike in it.

noglider 05-09-16 04:13 PM

Exactly, mountaindave.

I just showed Breaking Away to my kids. They loved it, my son was yelling and whooping. A classic, really.

Remind me. Stoller's really was a Masi, but the Cinzano team bikes were ???

Narhay 05-10-16 01:03 AM

Cinzano bikes were NEXT.

RaleighSport 05-10-16 08:54 AM

Just a heads up if the box slows I'll probably need to move a few slots down, I leave on the 22nd for my honeymoon.

Fahrenheit531 05-10-16 10:39 AM

@RaleighSport It's headed to the post office immediately after I hit 'post quick reply'. With luck I'll be the slowest we get for a while. ;)

UPDATE: The eagle has flown! Next stop, Washington state!

Colnago Supers. The dark blue one was ca. 1971 - had this decal set:

It's about learning the world is worse than flat.

I grabbed a set of three Shimano top tube cable guides out of the BOC - I've had a change of plans on that bike and won't need the guides in the foreseeable future. I'll pass them along to any BOC'er who can put them to good use; they're in great shape. If no takers, I can mail them out to an upstream BOC'er to return them to the BOC.....

Crapmaster, feel free to amend my proposition.

A careful reading of The Rules was done, and as Supreme Sentient Being of Crap, I have ruled.

There shall be no propositioning of other members via the BOC thread. Use PM only, and properly protect thyself.

Errr, crap. It wasn't that type of proposition.....

If I don't get a request for the guides in the next day or two I'll send 'em downstream Crap Creek.

I talked my wife into watching it with me, and she enjoyed it as well. She's not even a bike geek!

The "Ities" slang had both of us scratching our heads momentarily -- had never heard that one before.

Narhay 05-13-16 03:14 PM

I drove to my uncle's house in Washington this morning as the tracking yesterday said the box of crap was to be delivered Thursday. Get there and no box of crap. :( This was my only weekday off as the post office is only open 9-3:30 weekdays. I was a bit stressed about it.

I decide to wait around until 11:30 to see if it would be delivered as I had an appointment in Canada at 1:00. 11:28 as I am in the depths of despair I hear a car door close. Box of crap has landed. I sorted through it and took some choice crap if I may say so myself. I placed some of my own crap in I felt was worthy of the exchange and shipped it out ay 11:57. 29 minute turnover aint bad. The box is currently en route to inkandsilver and should arrive Monday.

If you guys think this stuff is crap we should become real good friends.

Fahrenheit531 05-13-16 03:55 PM

I hope you can get that Brooks rehabbed. I bought it wrecked and pretty flat, did an intensive rehab that turned out quite well, then my boy rode behind me on the "Hottest Day of the Year Ride" last year continuously soaking my back and butt with a spray bottle. Needless to say, my saddle rehab was well and truly destroyed after a day of riding it wet.

Since then it has hung around collecting dust with no plans in store; in my world that makes it crap. May it serve you well! ;)

EDIT: And man, the ol' USPS must've dragged the BOC behind the truck for a while to teach it a lesson. That was a brand-new box when it left here.

Narhay 05-13-16 04:28 PM

I was able to get a new box. Im surprised it didnt spill out. What would you recommend for the saddle rehab? I can get a tin of proofide but I've never done any leather restore before.
