Is anyone else unable to click the (sort of large) thumbnail images in long john's posts to see the full size images? (Not really sure this upgrade was a step forward...)

Update: the box of crap has successfully landed today.

However, I did not get the chance to divulge its secrets within due to this evening's activities.

I shall return shortly with pictures.

Of tonite's "activities"?

I am interested in the package condition? Among other things?

Leukybear 07-16-16 11:11 PM

Finally got a chance to go through the box of crap today.

My first impression upon opening the box was that long john had pulled out all the stops as far as making sure that we can now ship chainrings and cranksets with confidence! The box is literally metal lined! I really dig the use of pennies as washers for the rivets. I have a good feeling John works with metal.

What I first saw:

With the box-armor removed:

A subpeona! Just kidding, a manilla envelope.

What I took out:

My townie cruiser is going to get pimped!

Just like its metal clad luggage and suitcase brethren, dents from impacts during transit are its enemy. With the malleability of the sheet metal acting as a written record of how it has been manhandled by surprised postal workers who did not expect a 18.6lb package which is now a 21.5lb package.

The bottom corners faired the worst. All of the dents were nothing 2 minutes with a hammer and anvil couldn't fix! Good as new now. :)

The fabrication was superb though. Kudos!

Just for you:

Wow! And now the govmint can't figger out what we were thinking when we decided to send a box of crap around the country! Will Homeland Security intercept the new and imroved box?

Lascauxcaveman 07-16-16 11:55 PM

^ I like it. :)

Now why didn't I think of that, only with plywood? I've got acres of 1/8" plywood sitting around left over from various projects.

"Veni, vidi, and vici"
I am glad you like the up graded box. The historical impressions of hard ship will
Be a record of our dedication to share crap. The contents received an up grade also
The crap was getting well a little to
Should be a spar bulb in the lamp housing.

I made sure to wear my tinfoil hat while working with the BOC. Hmm, maybe the Crapmaster should add that as a rule?

The Crapmaster thought long and hard about this outstanding forum member and multiple BOC recidivist's request. And the answer is, no. Tinfoil hat wearing shall remain optional. If the recividist decides to appeal, he shall open a new thread, create a poll, and the Crapmaster shall view it as non-binding arbitration. However, if the masses would like, I could ask the forum developers to develop a new emoticon to use while wearing a tin foil hat. The following seem close, but no cigar:
