Are there any recent pictures of the war-torn exterior of the box?

Lascauxcaveman - pm sent. I'm excited. I can't wait any longer. The suspense is killing me. ;)

Box is in good shape; Mr Postman just picked it up from my doorstep moments ago and it's on it's way to VV. Originally, I was planning to let it sit in my shop for three, four months of radio silence and/or lame excuses, as has become fashionable these days. But! Being an old school kinda guy, I decided PLAYING BY THE RULES was more important. (HINT, HINT) ;)

Anyway, it was worth the wait, this time. That fairly battered DA crankset should make a fun polishing project and may end up on my gugified Bianchi project.

Personal note to Velocivixen, you'll find the spring you're looking for in the box, but you'll have to remove it from the derailleur in which it's contained. I know you like taking stuff apart. :)

What, no door-to-door delivery service? Or do you just do that for Crapmasters?

ecnewell 06-21-17 02:09 PM

Nice haul!

nlerner 06-21-17 03:53 PM

Good 'n crappy.

beicster 06-21-17 05:45 PM

I am going to have work on my post count so I can in on this action. This looks like fun and I definitely have some good crap in the bike shed to add to it.

AustinFitz 06-21-17 09:05 PM

Now that I've been around here a little while I think I'd like to join the fun! I definitely have plenty of crap I can add, I've read over the rules, and will have no problem abiding by them. Sign me up please :D

I was thinking about it. My daughter just started her masters program at UP and could have used my help moving into her dorm. But her schedule had her driving down way too early for me; so no Portland for me this time :(

Honestly, I have as much fun seeing what other people pulled out of the box as I do receiving it myself. Sure, it's like Christmas morning 1973 when you unpack the box, but the experience is quickly tempered by the realization that you need to figure out how to get all of that crap back in there.

AustinFitz, I'm in your neck of the woods and I've got a few items that I took out of the box on it's trip down here to me a few months ago. Any chance we could meet up for me to add them back into the pile? I'll split the shipping cost with you.

Yeah man I'm sure we could arrange to meet up sometime. No need to split the shipping cost just to add some stuff back to the box. It would be cool just to meet another local enthusiast! I'll shoot you a PM with my cell number.

Sounds good, and I got the PM. Just a heads-up, though, not a guy :p.

A wise person once told me that it is important to know all of the rules inside and out, so that one can break them properly.

Crapmasters before me implemented rule 5. It is the driving 56 in a 55 mph zone of the BOC rules.

gugie I've got some crap, if you'll add me to the list

From my understanding she just wants to add some crap back to the box that she had previously removed last time she had it, but now has no use for. Is that a violation of the rules?

Sometimes crap is really crappy and needs to be removed - not against the rules. There doesn't seem to be anything in the rules about taking crap out, not using it and putting it back in (I've done this before). In fact, it seems to be a self-correction and actually agrees with rule 3. But then, the Crapmaster will be the ultimate defecator (oops, I mean decider).

Jadesfire 06-22-17 05:48 PM

Yes, this is taking an opportunity for a self-correction, without having the temptation to take anything. I took stuff I thought I might have a use for and as it turns out I don't. And I'd rather see it back in circulation than sitting gathering dust in my garage. I'm trying to downsize, not collect more stuff. Though all of the contributions have been cleaned and polished, so they might not actually qualify for the BOC anymore ;).

I resemble that remark.

Ah, I read it wrong. Contributions are always welcome.

I imagine that some people take crap out of the box with someone else in mind. While it's technically against the rules, no one would know if it happened unless it was mentioned online - it's an honor rule. Now, if you took something from the box with the intention of using it in the future, then awhile later decided to give it to someone else, I guess it's still technically against the rules, wink, wink.

The only hard and fast rule that will get me and many of the players riled up is taking forever to ship it to the next person. We want our crap. We need our crap. We're addicted to our crap. Our methadone is seeing pictures of other people's crap, so take some dang photos and post them, per the rules. Many don't, but it'll only get some growling from the peanut gallery.
