Yes, this is taking an opportunity for a self-correction, without having the temptation to take anything. I took stuff I thought I might have a use for and as it turns out I don't. And I'd rather see it back in circulation than sitting gathering dust in my garage. I'm trying to downsize, not collect more stuff. Though all of the contributions have been cleaned and polished, so they might not actually qualify for the BOC anymore ;).

I can't remember if it's written into the rules, but it's entirely kosher to evict really crappy, borked crap from the box if you have something to give that is clearly better to take up the resulting space.

As a recent recipient, I can assure one and all there are quite a few examples of that in the box right now. I would have evicted a few more pieces myself, but I'm low on crap to give away.

Ah, I read it wrong. Contributions are always welcome.

I imagine that some people take crap out of the box with someone else in mind. While it's technically against the rules, no one would know if it happened unless it was mentioned online - it's an honor rule. Now, if you took something from the box with the intention of using it in the future, then awhile later decided to give it to someone else, I guess it's still technically against the rules, wink, wink.

The only hard and fast rule that will get me and many of the players riled up is taking forever to ship it to the next person. We want our crap. We need our crap. We're addicted to our crap. Our methadone is seeing pictures of other people's crap, so take some dang photos and post them, per the rules. Many don't, but it'll only get some growling from the peanut gallery.

Just matriculate the box down field.

I am not in line....I agree and would like to "see" more C than "read" about the C that people got or worse yet "read" about delays...so I vote less verbiage and more "C". :D

Not a rule, but people that have done this have reported a long period of no flats, mechanicals, headwinds, or uphill climbing. When nlerner volunteered to restart the BOC after it was at a dead halt, cars where known to pull off to the side of the road to let him through, cops waved him through stop signs, and he didn't have to add air to any of his bike tires for several months.

This thread is so funny.

I'm reminded of our dear friends and neighbors in New Jersey. They would avoid pronouncing "bad words" outloud to their kids by saying the first letter and then the rest of the word, so "crap" came out as "C rap" ("see rap").

We were eating dinner with the family, and the son asked his mother, "Could you pass the B read?" (Bee red)

I also grew a luxurious head of hair. Remarkable.

Luxurious hair growth not withstanding, I would like to be added, I have read the rules and will abide by them. I am in need of some crap and I have crap that I don't need.

Velocivixen 06-24-17 10:50 AM

I received the BOC yesterday, but was too tired to open it by the time I arrived home. I just opened it this morning and will go through it shortly. Taking photos, of course.

Velocivixen 06-25-17 09:54 AM

Update with PHOTOS! First photo is box opened. Second is what I took. I'm not sure the sizes of the tools, but hoping one may be Whitworth.

Added.

Send out a Chorus gruppo when your turn arrives and watch your hair luxuriate overnight.

Nice haul, but looking at your flickr pix, the bench top degreaser tank from your neighbor's garage sale is what's making me jealous!

jeirvine 06-25-17 01:41 PM

Nice haul. If you want to fix up the Vx, let me know what's missing - I have a few incomplete that could provide the missing bits.

I put those tools in the BOC, and I think they might be Whitworth-sized or at least useful on Raleigh 3-speeds and Sturmey-Archer parts.

Velocivixen 06-25-17 04:54 PM

nlerner - fantastic. The tools are perfect saddle bag material! Now I've got to replace the items...hmmmm.

Oh! I also took a Bicycle Quarterly.

USAZorro 06-25-17 05:01 PM

Always good to get the box right after nlerner. :thumb:

Shipping out today to Sir_Name 2-Day Priority. Weighs over 20 lbs.

Drillium Dude 06-27-17 03:44 PM

Ya know, it's been too long since I have participated in the lottery that is the BOC. Can I get a re-add?

I have no idea what number this go-round would be. Maybe 5?

 I put that Vx in there specifically so VV could harvest the spring out of it.

I'll keep that in mind, LOL.:)

My post count isn't up to par but can I still get in line? I may be able to rack up enough posts by the time my turn comes around ;)

All in good faith of course! But I'll obey the rules and come back when I'm there.
