We often supplied Shim Stock to the MTB peeps in South Africa.

The 0.38mm will work. Little tough to cut, pair of tin snips would work. You can pick them up at most hardware stores.

Just make sure the brass is full hard. 0.38mm Brass Shim Stock

Lyon Industries is also quite helpful.

The aluminium cans would work they are however only 0.09mm thick. If your still battling from there you could get an older beer ban before then new thin aluminium cans were made.
