I wish I would have stopped at three. 9 customs road bikes latter, and 14 total bikes, believe me, 3 would be a dream! And I have sold off a few!

Most are well above what most posters on here would pay. That's alright, to each their own. I see it all the time in posts. A high end bike on here gets very few posts and at times almost shamed, while a med. grade bike, get praise heaped on it. No problem my me, I just like high end stuff.

so no limit to what I will spend on the things I want. Providing that I can afford it.
I would not take it that way, there are many bargain seekers here, that is no problem. I like the longstanding trend here that the lower tier bikes get attention. Save some of the very cheap when new bike shaped objects.
I have a few bikes by that Mario fellow. Fortunate. My taste I admit was skewed early by reading, from my first road bike I bought at or near the upper end so have remained there by and large.

Bikes: A few...

I'm a working guy, who views his 'toys' as tools. In that I mean that it doesn't have to be the nicest tool in the workshop as long as it gets the job done. The 'finer' points of a top tier bike would be lost on me.

My 'other' hobbies 'things' are the same. Not the flashiest collector car, nor the fastest car, not the latest firearms craze, and not the latest greatest Uberbike.

The most that I have EVER spent on a complete bike was $200, and that was my S-10S when it was brand new.

Other bikes?
'84 Univega Viva Sport - $135, Craigslist
'84 Univega Gran Tourismo - $125, Craigslist
'86 Miyata 710 - $120, Craigslist
'70s Sears three speed - $35, garage sale
'90 Trek 1100 - $85, garage sale (sold, too small)
'MUTT' - $40, Craigslist
'90 Schwinn Woodlands - free (trash picked)
Huffy MTB - free (trash picked)
'91 Nishiki Sport - $70, Craigslist (sold, too tall)

All were purchased/found in rideable condition (with some needing new tires).
I have 'upgraded' my primary keepers (both Unis and Miyata) to suit my own personal tastes with vintage SunTour barcons...

'Grail bikes'? None that trip my trigger, although I'll keep scrounging for a good deal on C&V steel.
