Bikes: LESS than I did a year ago!
Time to Let Go
Hello Everyone...
Due to some of my health concerns, I have decided to start reducing my "herd"...no, I am not selling everything off...and, no, I am not stopping...but...it has made me realize that I cannot do all that I want to do! So...and I am not sure if this is the exactly right place to put this thread (but it is not a hard sell, nor is it an evaluation).
My thoughts...if any of you are interested in any of my bikes/frames (most are listed in my signature line), let me know...I will get you a price...I want to offer them here first before going to CL or eBay. Now...at this point...the ones that are definitely off the table are: Tommasini's (mine and my wife's), Pinarello, Bridgestone XO-1, Raleigh Super Course, Bianchi Veloce, Miyata 1000...but I reserve the right to not sell any
I will be, most likely, more reluctant on some of my Raleigh's...but...again...not off the table (at least until I think more about it)...
You can see most of the bikes/frames at
daf1009's Library | Photobucket
Navigate to My Bike Collection
Send me a pm if you are interested in any of them...

Hey D, sorry to hear about your thin-out and health concerns. Your post reminded me of something I saw recently on ATL CL. Someone named "Dean" was downsizing to a smaller place and had a ton of parts & bikes for sale in December/January, some big names. Reached out to him to see what he had, he responded, had mostly 60cm+ bikes and lots of higher-end parts. He mentioned that so far, only one person came to look at it all but expected everything for a song, so he kindly thanked him for his offer then sent him on his way. I think he wanted it all to go in a big haul because I mentioned I'd like to take 2-3 of his bikes versus the whole haul and he never responded, even to a follow-up. I guess offering to pick over was enough to turn him off and hadn't been able to get in touch since.
Hearing about collectors offloading always perks up my ears, but I'd feel like I was kicking a guy while he's down if I bought in on it. Hope you get where you need to be, brother.

Sorry to hear about your downsize, but at least you have some kick ass bikes to keep around! Which bike is the yellow one?

Duane, best wishes on improving your health. Hope you can ride more and wrench less. Although I am sure parting out makes you happy!
In any event, all the best!

Since my injury, it often is difficult to ride/wrench/play- I sort of "get" the situation.
Take care and good luck!!!

Bikes: A green one, "Ragleigh," or something.
Nope. I'm not gonna click. I've got too many bikes already!
I do wish you well in your recovery of health, though daf1009.

Honestly, though - when I saw the Super Course 12 off to the extreme right in one of the pics, well... That was my first serious bike. What size? I know it's off the table, but I'd like to take this opportunity to put my name out there in case you decide at some point to let it go.
I understand the downsizing. I'm doing it myself, though I'd not mind a bit putting together a neat "blast from the past" like the Super Course!
Here's hoping your health concerns don't keep you from the bike(s)

Thank you to everyone for your concern...I have an ongoing condition called Cushing's disease...which gives me too much Cortisol. Fortunately, I am pretty asymptomatic...except it is driving my Type II diabetes crazy...and I have some symptoms from that...including weak legs, thus my bike issues!
We have a plan to work it our and get it under control...it is just taking time. We will see how I am after we get it under control...and go from there. But, as I said, it made me realize that, while I like having a collection...it pays to have a focused collection!
