I have trouble finding any new Tange headset that is ISO standard or JIS standard.
Every where I look for, germany, uk, all europe, they sell a mix of JIS and ISO, but u hardly find a real ISO.

which dealer ever I contact for exact sizes, tells me:

ISO 1" thread
Cupdia 30 mm
Crown konus 26.4

and this would be the only they get atm, and "nobody ever complained except me".
I have 3 on the shelf that are ISO, one black, one shiny crome, one matte... but due to this is standard replacement for ol rotten 105 headsets, they won't stay long....

ISO Standard is:
ISO 1" thread
Cupdia 30.2 mm
Crown konus 26.4

JIS Standard is:
ISO 1" thread
Cupdia 30 mm
Crown konus 27

what they sell is neither/nor.

on topic: here is an old stock Tange in french for a ok price...

It's a good bet that Tange has a French headset that will drop onto the PX-10. Granted, they are not made with magic dust. But a frame stiffer and tougher on headsets than a PX=10, will in my experience reliably get 8000 miles from any of the Tanges (another 1-2000 after upsizing the balls one step). Not bad for $30 and they look decent on C & V bikes. You can also mix and match their headsets to get the stack height you need. (The washers and nut of the $8 OEM Tanges are very short. So is the bottom bearing. You will need to seal it, (innertube) or fill the race with marine grease and use a mini fender.)

I like Tanges a lot. Put it in, have it right by the end of the first ride, tweak it once a year and replace/re-ball at 8000 miles. That's it. Hard to beat for $30 and far less sweat of my back than some of the headsets I paid far more for. That said, the roller Stronglight on my Mooney is a pure joy. 25,000 miles and perfect. Never needs anything. Just wish it had steel wrench flats.

mm important?

Looks great chas.like the idea of keeping the hood in place..I will try it with cork tape though...those hoods are wafer thin and I do up to 150 km/ride so I found cloth tape offered zero shock asorption. It does look great though.

ps..my px 10 seems to have a stack height of 39.5...the velo orange is listed as 40.5... I guess a mm could be important. I had a bike once that had a headset that seemed to come loose a lot..a pain. I guess someone will suggest loctite, however, I find it best to go with what is 'right".

Cork tape and similar types tend not to sit flat and might have ridges when wrapped around the MAFAC levers (plus look hookie). JMO
