RB-1 vs Rb-3

Esteemed Colleagues!

I've recently decided it is time to strip my fathers Colnago of its Victory components (which is WAY to big for me- he hasnt ridden it in about 30 years, but I cant bring myself to sell it) and build up a smaller vintage frame. Ideally a smaller Colnago frame. However I've also played with the idea of putting the parts on an RB-1/RB-3. What is the difference between the two bridgestone bikes?

Ignorantly yours, now and forever,

WSP

Bikes: Too many to list

Were it my dilemna, i would use the Campagnolo components on an Italian frame that fits you. Colnago's can be awesome, but there are so many other nice and colorful frames, - Gios, Cioss, Rossin, Guerciotti, - we could go on and on
I would assume tubing grade would be the chief difference between an rb1 and a 3. There may be other differences, but probably nothing major--- i thought they were all made of nice Ishiwata tubesets but could be like the difference between Tange 1 and Tange 2

A nice Bridgestone, being a Japanese classic, would look best built with either a Suntour Superbe parts kit, or a Shimano 600 kit-- in my opinion (if its your bike though, your opinion is more important)

It might vary by year, but on the whole RB-1 was top notch and RB-3 was somewhat low end. You can look through catalogs and additional info here:

Thank you both for the input! I had a feeling the RB-3 was below the RB-1 but wasnt sure.

Back to searching for something covered in marinara!
