How bad is this rust spot?

Thinking about this Trek but just found out about a little rust. Is this repairable? how much does it degrade the bikes condition? (These are best pics I have)

Doesn't look bad . . . yet. Hard to tell without sanding to bare metal, but that is likely not deep.

But it does need to be sanded, treated, and touched up.

I got a cheap $20 but great rotary tool from the devil Amazon. A small wire brush attachment comes with it along with a flex extension and it would get that stripped without going too far outside of target area.

Nice bike.

Ok thanks, was getting a little over eager on this one, which can be dangerous shopping from afar. There is a scratch/gouge on crank arm otherwise it is a pretty nice original good model Trek.

It's probably okay, as one said, the pictures give one a limited impression.

Some bikes become real rust buckets; to me, that doesn't look bad at all.

And sold! to the highest bidder, but wasn't me. Thought hard about it and had to ask seller for extra pics. Really like this 736 model with Superbe components. The new owner probably doesn't know about rust and crank gouge is hard to make out. Still not a bad price and ship amount is low. Could be a slap in box with shrink wrap attempt pack job. Oh well rust made me think about it...
