Switching out springs on Brooks saddle for lighter weight springs

I saw a thread a while back about doing this. Has anyone tried it? The springs on the new b66/b67 line seem to be a bit heavier gauge than the older ones, perhaps heavier than the b73. I once owned a B66 and it didn't seem to do much for me. I only weigh 140 lbs. Could I switch out the springs on a newish B67 for the springs on a cheapo saddle...or some old springs off a vintage Brooks saddle?

I have not. I can tell you that getting a wrench in there to take of the nut is easier than getting the nut back on!

Niagara cyclery has a variety of Brooks springs (components> seating small parts), so worth a look, but I suspect the folks at Wallingford (wallbike.com) will know more about them.

I have some B66 frames, will see if I can distinguish harder versus softer springs.

I'm afraid Wallingford/wallbike.com has closed up shop though he's still selling a few small bits on eBay.

Here is the thread I mentioned in my original post:

Looks like the OP used springs off a cheapo saddle from Walmart to make the switch, with great results. I'm tempted to try it...

They fit and are far more gentle which should be great for my wife's Brook!
Her e bike is currently in dock for front suspension upgrade, so wont know for sure until its done.
