Dating Colnago Frame

Hi

Looking for help on Colnago SL frame dating, paint pattern looks like 1988 catalog, the rear spread is 130 mm, haven't seen Colnago marked on the top of the bottom bracket (but have seen Junior in same spot)

Dinner and a movie?

Sorry, couldn't help myself, even worse I can't date Colnago frames to save my life. Someone useful will come along shortly. Nice frame.

Bikes: too many or not enough

I had one of these. I think I felt it was an 86 at the time. Mine came originally with a 1st gen C-Record component set.

Colnago rear stay spread

What is your Colnago's rear stay spread. Is it possible my frames spread was increased to 130mm later in life?

thanks!!

I'm not a Colnago expert but rounds tubes in conjunction with a Columbus SL decal should be a Super. However, in 1986 the Super did not use the bridgeless, aerodynamic BB shell, according to the literature. The Columbus decal style changed in 1988. That should narrow it down to a 1987 Super, possibly 1988 if Colnago didn't rotate their Columbus decal stock. Attached is the 1986 catalogue entry. You can see the traditional chainstay bridge.

Well it's very clear Colnago wanted you to be sure it's a Colnago. No help with dating, short rear drops mid 80s is my guess.
