Bikes: A few too many

Which ones crack us up, all of them or just the scammers?....I dislike chinese scammers or any scammers for that matter.
What about the guy that tells me he's buying the bike for his kid and can I cut him some slack on the price and then turns around and parts the bike out after I gave him a deal or the Pros closet that does the same thing are these guys scammers?....there are scammers everywhere, should I group them by nationality or?

If we expect a great product/deal and the price is too good to be true then who are we fooling.
If I buy bar tape from china and for a buck a roll I don't expect lizard skin even if the pic looks like LS....buying cheap gets cheap, there is no way around it unless you find a uniformed seller....then the moral Delima buy it a tell yourself what a good deal you got or how the seller didn't know what he/she had?. We have discussed this before...

It seems humorous to me that we go into a deal suspecting it is a scam many times with our eyes wide open and expect a different outcome...if we weren't looking to get such a great deal we would not facilitate the scammers.
Who said a sucker is born every minute?

Sorry for the rant and not meaning to single anyone out..so take it for what it is worth.

Regards, Ben

They are taking it to the bank, I am thinking. One to a few sales, collect Paypal deposits then done. Then they open up another ebay/Paypal acct. They have enough lead time because of lengthy shipping transit time plenty of time for the funds to deposit.

Yeah these scam ads are getting pretty pervasive in the eBay CV section. However, there are legit sellers of quality bike parts out of China. Not that many are doing CV though.

Just to add another wrinkle I spotted this today from a supposedly US seller, same technique as these others. Recognized it from another (still active) listing that has been up a while. I reported it. It's a jungle out there!

When i sell on ebay, i dont get the money until the item delivers.
Why would the scammers get the money before the item delivers?

I don't think that is always the case, when I first started out I too would have to wait, but now even though I don't sell all the time. I still seem to get instant paymenst in my account when I make a sale.

Still you are right especially with new accounts, from such a distance. You would think PayPal would wait to deposit funds.

Who knows, I don't think the scammers would be doing it, if they weren't cashing in somehow.

If you are below a certain level of feedback, the money is held for a certain amount of time, but I'm not sure how long (30 days?). A scammer will drag the process out, wait a few days, then mark the item as shipped, hoping the waiting or dispute process will drag on until the money clears.

I once had a seller string me along for a couple of weeks (I'm out of the country, etc), clock ticking the whole time. When I clicked the "where's my item?" link on eBay, he immediately posted a fake shipping #. When I started the dispute process he threatened to not ship the item unless I cancelled the dispute.

Just noticed the listing is gone. Took less than 2 hours to clear it. The real listing pops up with others when you click the link.
