Viscount Date
Hi folks,
A friend and fellow English light weight fan in the UK is trying to date an 80s Viscount Aerospace 600EX that he recently acquired. The decals claim that it was the 1981 Bike of the Year. The serial # on the BB appears to be 6024 or 6029. He’s looking for component date codes, but hasn’t found any as of yet. He didn’t say what the components are and I can’t tell from the pix. Any help, info or links will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Van

Here is a quote about 600EX. And a link to the quoted page.
...a 1981 catalogue in which the top of the range is one with a Shimano Dura Ace group set. I’ve never seen one of these. Second was probably the Viscount Aerospace 600ax, with the Shimano 600ax gruppo. Just below that must have been the 600ex (you can guess what that came with).

Shimano 600EX was 1978-1983, so it's in the right era and presumably post 1981 based on the decal. The overall picture is really small but the frame characteristics such as top tube cable tunnels, braze-on shift bosses, down tube bottle boss, cable routing under under BB shell, would all be appropriate for circa 1982-1983. The only component that can be reasonably identified in the pictures is the headset, as it is aluminum, with the scalloped nut. It does appear to be 600EX and not later New 600EX version.

You can check out Viscount Lambert board.
I know there is at least one 600EX that has been discussed there
