Proformance wheels by Will
Hello there!
I am wondering if anyone has any information on Proformance wheels? I got a set of really nice tubulars for really cheap and well, I cannot find any information about them anywhere.
I have a few pictures, but cannot post them as I do not have 10 posts yet.

Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?
Strong, light, inexpensive = Pick 2, the third is inconsistent.
Hub manufacturer?
Good luck.
Maybe post in Road Forum if wheels are new.

I'm sure Performance has had different sources for their wheels or different people building them. So with the "quality" of the wheel build being dependent of it's actual work up (the process to lace, tension up, stress release, true and best match wheel parts with each other) and not a general statement which relates to an average we really can't be expected to give advice about any one real wheel.
Having said that I always like having the builder sign off, claiming their responsibility or their quality is a good feedback mechanism. Of course when the feedback is unlikely to happen, as in mail order purchases, this becomes more a marketing display then a real part of the process. Andy.

It looks like the hubs were turned by the shop itself. Take sealed bearings. There was an auction that ended that had the Proformance hubs with Sun wheels.
The wheels seem really well made and are really light. I have been biking for a long time, just never heard of these.
I have no idea when they could have even been made.

Carbon or Al rims?
You might get better feedback on new carbon wheels in Road Forum. Lots of threads on inexpensive stuff from Asia.

Agree with you, nothing easy to find on Proformance - related to bicycles.

Bikes: Most have two wheels, some have one, some have a very large front wheel and tiny rear wheel.
Older post I realize, but I can only add I have a set of tubulars with the same sticker. Proformance by Will and Ultra Hard Anodized. I'm guessing my Ultra rating eats the Super rating for breakfast
. Probably a wheel builder at the time that branded their work with stickers. A good sign of pride of workmanship at the least in the 80's. The 2 rims are from different mothers (Sun and Mavic), but when I pedal I am hard pressed to tell the difference. Get it? Pressed? Pedals?
Now, back to your regularly scheduled broadcast content.

Interesting thread, because I was just looking to see if I could find Will.
I live near Phoenix, and for years we had a great wheel builder named Will Snyder, who owned a small shop called Proformance Wheels. Will always put those stickers on the wheels.
I have four sets of wheels he either built or adjusted for me. The set he built for me are some really nice Mavic rims with Dura Ace hubs that I used with my Dura Ace groupo equipped Cannondale road bike. I put a lot of long miles on those wheels, and didn't treat them delicately, jumping over cattle guards and junk in the road, and they've never needed to be adjusted. The other wheels were ones that came with the bikes and after he got done adjusting and tweaking, they've stayed true.
His shop was always busy, semi-pro and pro riders were often there hanging out to talk. He was very involved in the mountain-biking world here in Phoenix but I think had stopped riding competitively. I haven't seen him in years and years, and miss him.
I'd attach photos of the Mavic wheels and their stickers, but… you know….

Sounds like that is the link. My sticker is gold foil, blue lettering. 3.25" x 1". Its on a bike I bought here in Phx.

He was an awesome guy, fun to talk to, and good. His wheels were so much better than what I ever got from a manufacturer.
I've searched to try to find him online, either in a mention or a site for him, and this thread is the first I've seen in years. I suspect he's no longer with us, or is so averse to the internet that he avoids any mention of his work or shop.
