Local Flipping an Iverson

Wow that's a blue clone of the purple one I own! Was my first 10 speed back in the early 70's. That looks pretty much as it would have come out of the box other than the red pinstripes which mine does not have, but the cotter steel cranks and what appears to be a Shimano Lark are the same. Even the pump holder.
That is insanely clean as if someone found an unopened box.

New paint with automotive paint & primer. The original decals were retained.

I agree, it looks clean. But it appears to be a cheap High-Ten bike to start with, so I can't believe the owner is hardly breaking even on the restoration. Labor of Love?
Those appear to be flat bar brakes which I can't believe would have been original equipment.

$275.00 CND for that Iverson is way too much, particularly for Winnipeg. My opinion, of course, but for that money I would not seek an entry level bike such as the one presented, even though it looks very nice.
I just looked through the Winnipeg Kijiji the other day and there were much better deals to be had.

Most of the parts look pretty original other than the brake pads and shift levers as the one's back then usually had plastic/rubberish covers. The brakes themselves look original, as do all the chrome bits. Oh and the saddle looks like it was replaced as back then they came with this padded plastic piece with diamond pattern.
Oh and they wouldn't have had 'quick" release hubs just nuts.
The other thing I remember about mine was that the front forks were starting to bend, probably due to the cheap steel used so I had a longer wheelbase then stock. Suspect that was why I finally stopped riding it, well that and it weighed almost double what my CCM 'Targa" weighed.

Looking at the picture is sending shivers down my spine. This is an extremely low end bike with very basic components. $20 for it would be enough. Iversons were horribly low end bikes in the 60's and 70's. I believe that they were made in NY state. Find a basic Japanese made bike instead.

I think this is a case where the guy works in the field of autobody detailing, or has contacts there, and he decided he'd fix up a bike and try to make some money on it. By the feedback in this thread as to it's relative current value, he should've researched and made a decision on that bike before he even washed it. And, Dear Lord, it's WINNIPEG for cryin' out loud - what was he thinking?

The name Iverson sends shivers down my spine. I remember working on Iversons as a youth. I got sick every time one got sent over to my bench for repairs. Horrible stuff. That one, although very low end, is a cut or two above the ones I remember. AMF, Murray, Huffy, Kia....I will be having nightmares tonight!

I am glad that someone else remembers these nightmare bikes. Lion, and tigers, and Iversons, Oh My

For a bike inducing the need for running away shrieking in the opposite direction, I never heard of it before until that listing. Granted, I'm not up on the history of bicycle lemons.

One small cut above the Sears Freespirit of that vintage that I briefly owned. I paid about $10 at a yard sale, and it was eventually stolen, which was probably a greater loss for the thief than for me.
