Classic but not Vintage

Not wanting to raffle feathers and all...... so I thought I ask the question before posting the lots of picture here...(I will give you one though..

I am a fan of all things old, bikes, motorcycles, furniture... just love art deco and classic lines, but I'm not a purist, and also appreciate retro.. so there I was the other day in a bike shop, buying an inner tube..as you do... and this beautiful classic bike caught my eye, it was a Japanese made Bruno 700c Tour, had been sat in the shop a while a little forlorn and unwanted by the local skinny road race fraternity that only want expensive flash carbon..

I had been wanting a touring bike and had been looking for a metal framed 80-90's road bike to convert...then saw this and worked out I'd only be spending $200 more that buying a cheap classic and sora groupset... etc. and a few special tools...

So my question is are retro's welcome here in the classic and vintage section or is there a more appropriate place?

Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?

Steel, stem shifters and a bell.
What's not to like?

Steel frame, tasteful paint job, no brifters, and a bell. That's enough for me. And I'd guess it's enough for most other C&V forum members as well. Nice bike. It is the Classic and Vintage forum after all.

I knew someone would spot the disconnected front brake, she had just arrived home, wheel removed for transport in the car as I don't have a bike carrier.... and as I was planning a ride, which would mean back in the car to get to the starting point.. I didn't reconnect...

I'm traveling at the moment, only home on Saturday, will check the interrupters maker then.

More picks below.

Retro here, in the Classic-Vintage section of Bike Forums..?

My answer would be no. As for a more appropriate place to post, that I am not sure of.

Well, it certainly seems to meet the aesthetic standards of the group. I suppose this begs the question of is this forum 'Classic' AND 'Vintage', requiring both....or more of a 'Classic' & Vintage' (taken to mean classic or vintage). I suspect the latter, although the aesthetic is also very important. C&V really seems to be about a certain set of values and attitudes more than anything else.

Bikes: colnago titanio oval master, pinarello treviso es, centurion prestige, tomac ti 26er, lemond buenos aires, mbk 753, vitus 992 and zx1, rocky mountain hammer disc,bd century titanium, specialized venge expert

I say classic for sure. All the right elements are there. Nice bike. Then again what do I know? I like good steel, vintage and modern, with the best modern components I can afford, for the best riding experience. Old for Olds sake seems kinda curmudgeonly.

I can only find a Japanese language site for this bike - https://brunobike.jp/bruno_products/index.html

Anybody know of an English language version?

The English that is on the site refers to Brooks saddles and Panaracer tires, so it certainly has my interest, even if just to go "ahhh".

Bikes: See sig

Does it have a sloping top tube or is it just because it's in that stand? I have a hard time with sloping top tubes.

2017 version does seem to come with the Brooks seat, but no "interruptors" or bell, tires on my version are Ventura. I imagin as they seem a small bespoke company specs change slightly with whatever they have available. In Malaysia they seem well known among the "Mini Velo" crowd that seem to go for the classic lines with mini wheels.. I have found a couple of write ups in English but there web sight is Japanese once past the first window, but specs are specs and pretty easy to understand in any language.

Bikes: Too many to list

I think its pretty cool my man --------

I routinely step over the blurry lines between classic, vintage, and retro-modernish with my creations -- and I cant wait to show off my new "steel is real" track bike when its completed -- although it will have a modernish build (for a track bike)

Over the months I have seen, we have had threads about other retro styled new bikes, so this one fits right in

The interrupters themselves have no markings on them, but a little research turned up these:

https://www.bricklanebikes.co.uk/blb...-lever-white-2

Very nicely made I must say.

All other brake components are Shimano, as is the groupset, Claris, not high end, but perfect for this bike, silent and smooth.
