Melted brake hood Hall of Fame
Consider the invitation to display your most gruesome examples. The ones so grotesque, you just stare in bewilderment and anguish, yet can't avert your eyes. Maybe we should initiate an annual celebration culminating on October 31, bestowing an honorary title to the annual victor. Examples are to be all natural, no "plastic surgery" allowed.
My submission (sorry I linked to an album, I seem to always struggle to upload photos to the website):

Bikes: Waterford Paramount Touring, Raleigh Sports 3-speeds in M23 & L23, Schwinn Cimarron oddball build, Marin Palisades Trail dropbar conversion, Nishiki Cresta GT, Jeunet mixte
I guess having them on a DuraAce bike is some consolation.

Wow. I was stupid enough to look at that. Disgusting!I recall this being a real problem with Japanese made brake hoods in the 80s. Sometimes they'd be pretty toasty after a couple years. I wonder what sort of rubber or synthetic rubber they were using. Real gum rubber didn't do this. Those would eventually dry out and crack and fall apart, but never did the roasted marshmallow thing.

Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?
My thought was, "Where does this person live? - Hades, or Death Valley?" Or maybe TX, NM, AZ. Certainly not around Seattle, our heat streak was 13 days above 80F.
And that was the 3rd longest of all-time.
With the right handle, OP is good in my book.
