Not quite dialed in for it's "beauty shot", but this from last Sunday on a 40 mile shakedown ride.

The Brits used to have some intriguing color/colour selections for their bikes, and perhaps this was one of them??
Looking forward to hearing what the story is!

That's my 1971, Competition - in the original Lilac. I realize that I'm a bit out in space with my painted leather saddle and bar covers. When they require a repaint, I will attempt to match the contrasting head tube color more closely.

Was that a color that was sold in the USA, or did it come across the border? Seems like it might be a hard sell in the USA, but it *was* the 70's, and all manner of odd fashion was popular! Fortunately, most of it passed me by.
One of my old Raleigh catalogs... '75? .. has this photo....
clearly, this was the era for experimenting with mind altering substances.

I like the lilac and the contrasting panels! Kinda wild, but neat! Almost reminds me of some of the wild color combinations that Brian Baylis used to use.

From what I have gathered, this was a US offering. It's a bit of a deviant from what I'd come to expect from Raleighs, as it has stamped rear Zeus Competition dropouts, and it doesn't have the serial numbering that everything else I've seen coming out of Worksop had. They offered another "one year only" color of Competition also in 1971, but what it was escapes me at the moment.
I hadn't thought about Brian's color schemes until you mentioned it, but I do see your point there. What a talent and a good-hearted soul we lost when he passed on.

[QUOTE=USAZorro;19910413]She's dressed for the fall festival, but someone needs to remind him about wearing white after Labor Day.
The ascot is the key.... one can wear white anytime as long as you have the appropriate ascot.. and the chops on the sides... (I'm sooooo happy I didn't take that path in the 70's) lol

Far more "with it" than the young Stepfords who stood next to Schwinns during the decade.

Out for spin today....before it starts to rain....on my '82 3Rensho Allez. This picture taken from Ediz Hook, looking over Port Angeles Harbor with the mountains of Olympic National Park in the background. These mountains will soon be capped with snow. Gorgeous place to live and ride!

Well we had Salt Lake early on in the thread. Let me offer a teaser from my slice of Utah taken today, about an hour northeast of Salt Lake:
Hopefully tomorrow I can provide a whole lot more.

Well, colors aren't that great this year but here's some from my ride on the De Rosa today up into the local Mts.
Notice the snow on top. It's come down a few times all ready this year.
This road is closed to vehicles and while falling apart it's still nice enough to road bike on.
Nice Mountain bike/hiking route through this canyon.

Climbed 1500 ft., up to Chesterfield, Ma., via Rt 143. Six miles of 5-8% grade to the town, real leg killer. KB

I just got back from a short ride to Port Gamble, a small lumber mill town from the mid-1800's. The mill shut down at the end of 1995. The mill has been dismantled and it is now a touristy little town. The weather has been cool at nights, but quite nice on some days (like today (62°)). I live in the woods across the bay in the last picture. Pretty soon I will have to start riding the Pro Tour since it is having fenders installed.
