Rust protection

Hi all,

My BB is showing a fair bit of rust. I'm not at a place financially to refinish the paint job so I'm wonder what people have done as a temporary solution to stop the spread and protect the area.

Thanks!

I've heard that white vinegar will remove rust. There is a solution called Ospho that does as well, but it eats paint too so don't get it on the paint. You can tape around the rusty section, remove the rust with either of those or sandpaper, then touch it up with a primer and spray paint, or even use fingernail polish. Anything that will prevent the oxygen needed for rust to form.

Evaporust for removal, rattlecan for protection.

Just smear some grease on it to shut off the Oxygen. I was just out in the garage dabbing a little Permatex Dielectric grease on the rust spots on an 82 red Club Fuji. Oh yeah - U.L. rated (3M) electrical tape will accomplish the same thing. Remember - it's only original once.
