I recently got ahold of a 1994/5 ish Raleigh M50. The rear brakes seem to be missing a part, there are brackets on the frame for what I suspect is something to hold he cable in the middle for the centerpull brakes. Does anyone have one similar that they could photo and let me get a better look or point me to a site for a manual of that age any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the early M Series Raleigh (Mountain Sport) were steel, and I don't know much about what their braking systems are like. They are Shimano Alivio. Here is the best picture I could find for you. If you could be more specific about which part you might be missing, let us know. Be sure to expand the photo.Originally Posted by Gpc2012

This is probably a '96-'97, with it's own, brazed-on "flying brake bridge" that takes the place of the bolt-on cable housing hanger in the other photo:

OMG finally I owe you a huge cyber hug (if that's allowed) lol. I've been trying to figure that out for a year on and off. True it's only when I have time and feel up to it but. Mine is the linked pic and I need the reflector bracket and reflector. I can't complain much including the new cables and brake pad I bought I'm into it for a whopping 26 bucks I think. It needs new shifters but I found a set including grips and cables for 20 bucks that guy pulled off a new bike because he didn't want that type of shifters. It's been so long since I've done anything on a bike that I feel almost lost. it's only been 39 years. I used to proudly own a Raleigh Super Grand Prix in frost blue. I wore two sets of tires out on it before the ex's bf stole it and it's mate

Hey, that's great! (I accept hugs). It looks like you have a really nice bike. Be sure to show some photos of it once you have the shifters on and all. Let us know if you find that cable guide that screws into the back of the seat tube.Originally Posted by Gpc2012

If not, then maybe one of us can help you find it. I'm glad I was able to find a pic of the right one!
I bought a 1980 Grand Prix and had it till '85, when it got stolen behind my place of work. We are both gardeners, too! Welcome back to the fold. Where are you going to ride at first?
Hey, if you want tires that are easy to pedal, I got these slicks last summer that are Bontrager SR1's and they are great. Also, Hutchinson Top Slick and IRC Smoothie.
