Please help me identify this 70s (Italian) frame...

Do these BB cuts suggest you anything?

It belongs to a (late?) 70s lightweight frame that I acquired recently, to be completed with campy Nuovo record and Modolo Professional parts…

Any sign of a serial number anywhere? I noted a 6 on the NDS of the BB shell, and possibly more numerals stamped in the shell elsewhere. From what I have learned here, it is most likely a mid 70s frame, say 73-76, long 1010 drops, top of the BB shell cable guides, 1 pair of bottle bosses.

No, no serial number anywhere…
There is indeed a 6 stamped on the BB shell and on the internal side of the left dropout (maybe the size, 56 or the year of manufacture, 1976) but noting more.

It has a few similarities to my 86 Tommasini Prestige, which is subject to some dispute as to its year, lugs have longer points and no stylized "T" on the shell. Try going through the BB pictures on Velo-Retro and match it up there. Hopefully repechage or T-Mar will see this flare send up, they have much more knowledge than I do, much, much more. Bet wishes on identifying the frame.

Thanks Bill, I appreciate.
I have spent quite some time on velo-retro with no luck; the cuts are similar but not identical to those I've seen on some Giuseppe Pelŕ frames (this is is also likely more recent).

The guides on top of the shell, single bottle bosses and the drops as well as the look of the entire frame seem to be in the mid 70s-late 70s, but no portacatena drops on back. The forum learned elders need to look at your frame. Nice stripping job, BTW!

Here is an early '70's Gios with same cutouts:

Take note of the differences as well! You could put a better picture of the seat stay cap? On a Gios is also a characteristic point.

Thx.
Unfortunately this is not the typical Gios seat stay in the '70's. But I'm not a Gios expert.
It could be an earlier model or maybe a cheaper type. In any case, the blue paint residue in the lugs also points to the direction of Gios.
I see you live in Italy, maybe if you are in contact with the Gios factory, they could give them the exact answer.

Of course, it may also be that another manufacturer has copied this solution on the BB shell.

Thank you again to point that frame out, I had never seen those BB cutouts it is unlikely that another frame-builder used them imho, but maybe they used external frame-builders.
I'll write to Gios, they seem to care about their vintage production (they keep a registry on their web site) maybe they can help...

Okay, please write what kind of reply you have received from Turin, I'm curious about it. I find the Gios family cherishing old traditions and counting their older bikes on their website. I suppose they'll be happy to help.

Le Gios Iscritte al Registro - Biciclette Gios - Le originali Made in Italy
They actually kindly replied almost right away to my inquire: apparently at the beginning of the Brooklyn team era they used several BB types (including the one that I have in my frame) and only later they resorted with the one with the Gt logo cutout. Unfortunately they said that that BB is a generic one and it cannot be attributed at a specific framebuilder.
The Gios attribution of the eBay frame mostly depends on the characteristic seat stay and mine is entirely different...

When I'm at a loss (like right now) and with a mystery Italian that has such characteristics and from around the same era (mid '70s) my go-to answer for the contractor who built them is: Romani.

No, there is not a lot on info about them although maybe more now then the last time I researched...

Thanks, I couldn't find much info besides an old catalog and the fact that they were subcontractors for Colner but I gave it a try and I contacted Gaetano Romani. Lets see what comes out...

I have a fantastic Romani frame (very similar to the incredible Somec Air 2001) and in this connection
previously I've been searching the net all over for Romani bikes.
I remember that I found only bicycles in the 1980s and few from the end of the '70s.

I tried to contact Signor Romani via Facebook and RetroBike, unfortunately unsuccessful.
Any information on Romani bikes? | Retrobike

And now I found an Italian website where he came out in 2014.
https://www.bdc-mag.com/forum/thread...romani.125555/
You might be lucky!
If the connection is successful, please let me know the route, I would also like to get information about my Romani frame

And one more question. Excluded Gios categorically the possibility that they made your frame?
Because on the Gios website on the pre-'73 bikes aren't the later typical Gios-style seat stay caps.

Yes, that's the connection I used (I'm a member of that forum too). I'll let you know.
And, yes at Gios they excluded categorically that mine is one of their frames .-(

Bikes: None in ridable condition

For reference, there was a post about a Fiorelli bike a while back that also happens to have the same bottom bracket cutout pattern (and a few more markings stamped into it):
