Hopefully attached photo shows my Peugeot P8. This is a 1983-1984 model. I purchased it in 1985 from LBS, (still have the receipt). I babied the bike for many years, but also road all over the place on it. Put it up for about 10 years and then began to ride again about 3 years ago. It is a baseline Peugeot Carbolite 103 frame, Maillard Hubs, Stronglight cranks & chainwheels, Weinmann 610 & 750 brakes, Sachs/Huret derailleurs. It has been a great bike for me. I know it is slow old and heavy, but it has been a beautiful ride.

you guys are slacking again. Here's an unusual one - a 1980 Araya. This came from a barn (really!) in Florida. Guy bought it from a shop owner (personal bike) rode it once and hung it up. I really bought it for the parts, which are full dura ace (save the stem).

When I got it I wiped it down and realized that it was in really really good shape, so I gave it the restoration treatment. Even my much jaded wife was impressed at the finished product. 1980, according to the owner. Full DA, with the original freehub and cassette. EX with that wierd headset nut. The painted details of the bike parts are original.

Champion #1 tubing, painted candy red. Sewups (replaced with Conti Giros; the originals were shot). A "Compy" (yeah, I spelled that right) saddle with matching suede leather bar tape. Turned the tape around and rewrapped it, and it looks nearly new.

The only thing that was missing was the head tube badge. I finally bought a cheapy frame and fork ($7.95!) just to get a badge.

'tis a vintage ride, and a very nice one, too. I have a friend here who still sometimes comes out and kicks my butt on one just like this. Odd how fast things become vintage, don't you think?

I'm pretty sure it's a 73. It was all original but kinda beat looking, so I painted it and filed away the old one piece crank in favor of something lighter. Always liked riding it for being so stable and true, but the frame is huge. I normally ride a 62cm and you can see where the seat is now. Thanks.

Yeah, my SS is a '72. I'm 5'10" and it's a 60 cm frame, so my saddle looks like that too. My paint's all original, though...

Here's my Miyata 210, which I use as my commuter/tourer/all-rounder bicycle. The first, attached picture is the bike as I bought it in late December. I've linked to a second picture of the bike now, because it's too big (even if I shrink it a lot) to attach. As you can see, it's not exactly stock anymore... I put on aero levers, tape instead of foam, fenders and a front rack. I'm on my third set of brakes - I think I'm going to keep this set! Anyway, it's a wonderful ride. Enjoy the photos!

Pretty groovy tape job...... I have a similar bike, a 1988 Miyata 215, that I run centuries on. Nice bikes.

Just got it from the bus station a few hours ago, gave it a quick bath and swapped out the rear wheel, it was horriby untrue and had at least two broken spokes. It's going to take a while to sort out the brakes and gears, I might end up replacing them too. Rides remarkably well and fits like a glove.

Actually it's a PITA, and so are the derailleurs and chain. I will try to find a more conventional chainguard, and maybe some nice old shimano-gears to stick on it. The crankset is also a bit weird, and I think there might be some trouble brewing in the BB. May turn out to be a waste of money, but it's a comfortable ride aside from the noise from the ders and the chainguard rubbing against the chain.

Thanks! That tape job is actually a happy accident - I didn't realize when ordering tape that I would get only enough of each color for one side of the bars . Anyway, I saw the picture of your 215 earlier in the thread. It's lovely. They really are quite nice bikes.

1977 Raleigh Sprite mixte; last production year for the Sprite and the only year a mixte Sprite was built. This particular example is unusual for a '77 in that it has no Japanese components at all -- everything's English or European. To me, this is one of the models that exemplify how a Raleigh should look; elegant and understated.

I figured I'd better crow about it while it's still mine; this Saturday it's headed for a new home in Los Angeles with Cora, one of our silent lurkers here. Maybe seeing her new baby will finally get her to sign in.

just bought this classic this week ive been waiting for a nice vitus frame to buy and this one unexpectedly popped up .its all mavic except the saddle and the brakes are modolo but stamped mavic.
