I don't know whether that saddle is comfortable or not. I had put on upright bars, bar shifters and a different saddle when I modified it for my wife to ride.

The source should be easy to determine from the serial number and would be interesting for posterity's sake. I'm still waiting on the OP's serial number.

T-Mar sorry it took a couple days. The serial # is RA850200414.
There is also a small made in Taiwan sticker by the bottom bracket. On the headtube are the #s 73 up top & 61 on the bottom. The other side of the headtube is stamped with a E with what looks like 3 horizontal lines next to it. Nothing is stamped on the steerer tube. Hope this means something.
Thanks

From: My response would have been something along the lines of: "Does your bike have computer controlled suspension? Then shut your piehole, this baby is from the future!"
Bikes: to many to list
I picked one up yesterday and the wheels are much thinner than the O.P.s find
As noted, Golden Arrow is only a nickname used by cyclists to facilitate the identification of 1st generation Shimano 105. While gold fill was the most common, it was not the only colour. Witness the blue fill on the shift levers of this bicycle. The components place the bicycle 1983-1986. Serial number?
The Ishiwata EX (Exactus) tubeset is based on the revered 022 but is triple butted, having slightly thinner butts at the head tube end of the top and down tubes. As a result, it is actually slightly lighter than 022, though there was also a version using with heavier gauge Magny (carbon-manganese) stays and forks. Unlike 022, it used seamed construction, allowing a lower price level.
The one thing that strikes me as odd are the rims. I realize that wider tyres have been fitted, but still the rims look wider than what I recall seeing on this model.

I bought a very nice Signature 292 recently mainly for the Shimano Golden Arrow components and the SR hubs which I will use for future projects. I'm rebuilding it to use as a light touring bike for trips between Chicago and Milwaukee.

Well this is a thread that has been reignited. I just sold this 294S with full Campy Triomphe group. Hope I don't regret it. It was fun to rebuild and cleaned up very well.
