Mavic OR

Has anyone ever owned or do you now have any of the Mavic OR wheels? I considering these for a project build. I think the gold color would be great.

10's or 7's? Just wondering how you like them? Do you know the difference between the 7's and 10's?

The difference is the wall thickness, as best as I can reckon. OR 7 is 0.7mm thick, OR 10 is 1.0mm thick.

As noted in the previous post, the prime difference was the extrusion wall thickness, which resulted in the lower weight. However, the lighter OR 7 was also 1.5mm wider to compensate for the reduction in lateral rigidity due tot the thinner walls.

I've owned a set of both and still have a set of OR 10. The OR 7 were too light for my weight. The OR 10 were OK, but I've always preferred the similar Fiamme Yellow Label tubular rim. However, I will admit that these rims look great on a black frame with other French gold anodized components of the era (i.e Simplex SLJ, MAFAC 2000, etc.).

T-Mar answered it pretty well IMO. As far as liking them...they're rims and they happen to be gold and fit into the color scheme of the bikes on which they are mounted. If it helps, I have OR10s. I am 225 lbs and they are holding up with no issues.

Below are the bikes on which they are mounted.
