Bikes: 1962 Rudge Sports, 1971 Raleigh Super Course, 1971 Raleigh Pro Track, 1974 Raleigh International, 1975 Viscount Fixie, 1982 McLean, 1996 Lemond (Ti), 2002 Burley Zydeco tandem

It's better than the original in every way. I bet the paint will hold up better, too.

One idea: you can mount the rear brake caliper in front of the seat stays rather than behind it. It looks a little funky when you do that, but the cable route is better. That's what I did on my old Raleigh when I added side pull brakes.

The Raleigh is now for sale on eBay. Time to move on to another project.

So, is this just a giant advertisement for your bike that's for sale?

Not a project I would have chosen, but you've done an excellent job with it. It looks great, and more importantly, sounds like you're very happy with it. If you undertake any future projects, would definitely follow their progress.
