The lung-searing, heart-pounding, stars-seeing, jelly-legged feeling at the top of a hard climb.

How delicious everything in the cafe tastes after those climbs.....

The good night's sleep after a good ride, and not waking up at 3am with sore legs.

Bikes: yes please

I love the sweet blooming spring fragrences of honeysuckle and wisteria. Hate 'em in my yard, but love 'em on the ride

I'd love to say I enjoy climbs, but my size does not help me there....I do enjoy the endorphin high from the post-ride exertion though. I love the downhill where 250 lbs is all working for me I've always had good balance and love being on the edge of my comfort zone taking curves.

Riding before dawn and enjoying the quiet solitude along the canals, the only noise is the wind passing by my ears and the sound of the wind on my spokes, the smells of the citrus trees is wafting in the air as the sun rise over the Superstition Mountains.

Something to see.

I went on an organized on Saturday, and among the various things they had to eat, there were cheapo subs from the supermarket. It tasted so good because of the exertion. I was so hungry.

Heh. I haven't even tried to do that. I suck it in my sinuses and down my throat. Then I spit it out. I have really good aim at spitting, so that's one of my little pleasures.

Bikes: Yes, please.

To begin with, if they pleasure me or annoy me, I wouldn't call them 'little things'.

One of the big things that gives me great joy is the silvery tingle of a nice, clean and lightly oiled freewheel.

That is what I thought and those running a 2x5 or 2x6 who can do this are probably something to ride with.

How about you? What little things while riding give you pleasure? Annoy you?

Oh now, that's disgusting. That's what soft woolen gloves are for. 😁
To expand on my earlier post, seeing young farm animals is awesome. Besides several young calves, I also saw a baby donkey this morning. 👍
And finally, never underestimate the power of a .99 fountain drink, when it's good & hot outside. 😎

Bikes: too many

The staccato sound of Fall's first leaves, as your tires lazily churn out the last few cycles of the season, before their winter slumber.

A quiet country road with no sound other than birds and the subtle whoosh whoosh of the tires. It's a small thing, but a big part of the reason I still ride steel frames with aluminum rims.

Also, riding down out of a mountain at full speed with a touring bike and bags, and feeling the bike lock in nice and steady. I don't get many chances to do this, but it's great fun.

The smell of freshly cut hay while on a ride. Typically, we get that two or three times over the summer.

I used to live along the route of a popular charity ride, about 10 miles from the Sunday morning start. The bikes would start going past my house around 7:00 am, when the air was still and you could hear them long before you saw them. I loved to go out on my front step with my coffee and listen to the bikes go by.

And every once in a while, a guy like me would ride by and whoop and wave like a clown.
