Older frame and new group, BB cable friction

Probably over thinking here, but I have a new to me early 90's frame and it is going be be a) a good build b) probably my last build while so I want to get it rigjht. it has the derailler cable run through the classic little eyelets, then run the shifter cables around the BB,

I am going to put on a new 5800 105 group and a I have seen a lot of comments about minimizing cable friction with 11 speed

Has anybody had issues with friction?

I could drill and tap (or get it drilled and tapped) and put shimano or campy anti fiction guide on

Or maybe find some stick on teflon ?

thoughts, Ideas, experiences? thanks

By "around the BB" do you mean it has pre 1984 above BB cable guides?

I don't think it's going to make that much difference or be any sort of problem. May as well try the existing guides first. You could sleeve the cables with some teflon liner where they contact the guides. Probably help a little. That's what I do with the under BB braze on guides on my Mercian, mostly because I didn't want the cables to wear through the paint.

The routing is under the BB. paint already has the lines, but avoiding both friction and more lines is good thanks

Bikes: It's complicated.

I'd try it first to see if it's an issue. If it were, one could file off the little cable guides, then drill and tape it for one of those plastic ones.

As noted I am probably over thinking...... also thinking to see if i can find a thin teflon adhesive pad to put on it

If MTB inner Teflon tubes will fit under there, that works well for me. But thus far have not had any issues with 11 speed installations on several different frames.

Yes you're overthinking it. You could cannibalize a V brake noodle for a plastic sleeve. I plan to run my cables under my BB without anything at all. Let's see how this works.

This is what I use:

$10+shipping will get you a lifetime supply (30 meters roll, about 10 centimeters needed per bike).
