Map shows 2-3” over the next couple of days in Cambria. Let’s hope this is the last of the rain!

Guys, let me ask if you are going to Eroica and which route? You can also chime in on my Eroica thread here and fill in the info or PM it to me:
Unofficial Eroica California 2019 BF C&V Thread - Reg, info, roll call and more!

Colnago Mixte?
davester (appears you are?)
Drillium Dude (he may be offline so can someone contact him?)
Choke?
spdntrxi
Lemond1985 (riding the routes but not with the event?)

Everyone else in this thread I've already got listed in my spreadsheet. Thanks!

Not being a fan of large organized rides, I am abstaining from the event, but will continue riding the routes on my own throughout the year, when I get days off and the weather is good (i.e., "not raining").

I'm with you on this. The reason I'm going is to meet up with and ride with a lot of old and new friends. The start is staggered in smaller groups, last year I was only riding with a large group of riders for the first 10 miles or so. Riding centuries in years past I remember having to sort through all of the newbies riding all over the road. The Eroica events self-filter to the more seasoned riders. I'm skipping the dinner this year in lieu of a smaller group.

Oh, and all of that vintage steel to oogle at...

Couldn't find the list-

I will be on a 1979 SOMEC with Mavic SSC and my brother Marc will be on a 1970 Paramount with SR. We signed up for the long one.

That looks great. BUT, The Weather Channel shoes Cambria and Paso Robles with 40% rain on 4/1 through 4/4.

I called it correctly last year (In Paso a lot), so I am going to call it this year.

Morning will be crisp, but will be comfortable by 0800. There will be puddles here and there, and the earth will be soft and moist. A great day!

I got a feeling...........................

This past Monday in Portland it was 76 degrees. A week before the Weather Channel prediction was 55 and rain.

I start trusting weather predictions when they're 2-3 days away.

If it's sunny, I'll ride.

If it's raining, I'll ride.

Yup. Rainy centuries are fun; I'd rather have sun.

Just got the SOMEC done for the Eroica.

Went 25 miles on it's maiden voyage. Yikes, it's stiff. It has all the suppleness of a track bike, with a steering angle to rival a unicycle.

The Mavic SSC setup shifts very well, and the front derailleur is very impressive. I am running Ofmega Super Competizione cranks with Avocet chainwheels. The freewheel is a Suntour Perfect 14-30 and the derailleurs handle it just fine. I am running Modolo Speedy calipers, and Modolo Mach1 levers, this combination works pretty well..................for vintage brakes.

Wheels are Mavic MA2 clinchers with Campagnolo hubs. Even though it has Vittoria Corsa 25mm tires, the ride quality of the wheelset is nothing spectacular. Good enough.

I rode my 1970 Paramount last year, and I was continually amazed throughout the Eroica ride just how comfortable it was. This bike is probably going to beat me up a little. Oh well, it's part of the adventure.

I rode my Ciocc 108 miles (Saturday and Sunday) with a total of 4400' of climbing. with the seat post slippage issue (post from today), and the fast pace, and the gearing, i was pretty beat up after the Sunday (76 mi, 3350 ft) ride. the only thing missing was toe clips, since I wanted to use my PowerTap pedals. Here I am nearing the top of "WIldcat" climb. ( one advantage of being last is your riding buddies take you r picture! first guy is anonymous).

Who can bring a a scale?

Did you get the email from L'Eroica? If your bike is less than 9.5 kg, you can't ride on Sunday. You can only ride Nova on Saturday.

Meh. Just fill your handlebars with sand and empty them after the weigh in.

I volunteered to weigh any suspect bicycles. I was one of the individuals that told the organizers that there were people that had extremely lightweight bicycles and were pushing the boundaries in regards to the spirit of the ride. We will make exceptions for single speeds, but geared bikes must meet the weight requirement. There does remain a grey area in regards to 3 speeds however.

Nice one.

I’ll have to remove the carbon fiber from inside my tubes.

This will be my ride at Cambria. I got my Ron Cooper converted from Campy 10sp triple to Eroica-compliant (but decidedly not period-correct) and have taken a few shake-down rides. It rides very well. Unlike the past four years, I'll actually be on a bike that is more or less my size.

And once again I am reminded of why I ride SPD's except for Eroica. I've got the shifting dialed in (mix of SunTour rear, Campy front and Rivendell Silver barcons - they are niiiiice) and I've adjusted to the single-pivot brakes again (SunTours - they work pretty darn well), but toe clips and straps are for the birds. Or at least they are not for this old, tubby, inflexible Clydesdale.

13-28 IRD freewheel on the back, 46/38 /24 up front. If that doesn't get me up the hills, nothing will - wel, nothing except my two cleat-clad feet.

As the son of a Meteorologist (30 years with the National Weather Bureau) I was brought up to doubt any forecast more than 48 hours out as hokum. Yes that tech has improved some since Dad was using a teletype but still...

Hope its sunny for ya'all
